“This was absolutely worth the trip!”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

We have seen most of the Plantations in Southern Louisiana and saved this one for last. It is by far the largest plantation house and completely furnished. The tour lasted about 45 minutes and the guide was very knowledgable. I still cant get over the size of the mansion - it had 15' ceilings. Although we did not, several of the rooms serve overnight guests and they have a restaurant onsite. Quite beautiful and the history lesson was great. Definately worth the trip.

“House is stunning!”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

We travelled from Australia to Baton Rouge for 5 days and while there I wanted to see a big southern plantation mansion.. well we were not disappointed. The only disappointment was that because it is used as a hotel we weren't able to see all the rooms. Obviously the place needs to pay for itself and bring in some cash so it makes sense to use it but for the tour price I would have expected a little more of a tour. The tour only takes you to some rooms in the house but not the grounds.

What we were able to see in the house was magnificent. The guide was informative and knowledgable and the history was fascinating.

The grounds were immaculate and even the outbuildings were stylish.

If you enjoyed Gone with the Wind and Tara, you will enjoy a visit to Nottoway.

“Gorgeous restoration. Well worth the trip.”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

This is a truly beautiful place. The owner has clearly taken the time, money and energy necessary into restoring such a grand home, and it is to the benefit of all who have the chance to visit this place.

Thank you for your review, we are so happy that you've noticed the detail in the restoration work we've recently done to the property. We constantly have the guests overall perception of us in mind when renovating, including wanting to make everyone as comforatble as possible when they come stay overnight with us. We hope that when we go through another restoration project in the future we can also meet the expectations of our many guests inclding yourself. Thank you, and hope to see you back here at Nottoway!

“not worth full admission price / don't waste money at the cafe”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

I would not pay full price for the tour, our group which was small (that was a bonus), toured the house only, not the grounds, and in the house we were limited to only certain rooms because other rooms were booked by guests and still other spaces were just off limits for no stated reason, the tour guide knew her scripted lines well but when asked relatively simple questions was met with a pleasant "you know, I'm not sure, but that's a good question". The cafe was lack luster at best, the food was served barely room temperature and not seasoned well (we had the oyster poor boys, soup and side salad), it was overpriced for what you got, we expected and accepted this because of the location however the musty smell that prevailed heavily throughout ruined whatever atmosphere there was.

Overall the experience was not worth the ticket price, and unless your very close by or staying there it's not worth the drive (we drove 2.5 hours to see it).....also call for specific directions the entrance is "hidden" and the GPS was inaccurate, the cafe...don't waste you time

“Romantic get away”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

Rooms are nice and clean. The food is excellent. We've stayed in the main house and the boys cottage. The cottage rooms are a little larger than the ones in the main house. The hot tub and pool are nice.
