This former hydro workers quarters is being leased to provide accommodation to tourists. A chalet, it is not. The ride up and down is fantastic. It is about 200km return trip. The road has fantastic bends and is well maintained. It is brilliant ride on the motorcycle and the views at the top are great. Go the extra ten kilometres and see the Gordon Dam. Lake Pedder is 50 times better now it has been damed.
The accommodation is okay. We stayed in the cheaper rooms, $90 a night twin share. It was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The inclusive breakfast was pretty pathetic, toast and cereal. The man at the front desk has a very dry sense of humour and does not seem at all keen on keeping customers happy.
Stay here as it is the only accommodation available.
Restaurant food, as stated by others, is great.More
