“Nice Weekend Getaway”
Review of Tickfaw State Park

Tickfaw State Park
Attraction details
Reviewed June 3, 2012

My hubby and I couldn't resist this convenient location (only 30 miles from home), and it turned out to be a wonderfully relaxing mini-vacation. We had a great time at Tickfaw State Park. We stayed in the tent area, and we had lots of space and shade. We also spent about 2 hours canoeing and loads of time fishing. We certainly plan to visit again!

The park has nice camping facilities for both RV and tents. The bath house was very clean. There is also a nice boardwalk area and an educational museum. For those that are more interested in a wet adventure, there is a small spash park for kids.

The park is located 32 miles east of Baton Rouge off I-12, and this review is of the campground. It has newly paved driveways for all of its 30 large RV sites. However, the driveways are elevated and only 10 feet wide, making it difficult for backing in towables. All sites have an elevated wood deck, BBQ, fire ring, and lantern post. The RV sites have water and electric (20, 30, 50 amp). There are also 20 tent sites with water only. There is a laundry ($1 each wash & dry), free wifi, and showers, but no recycling. There is a water park for children (summertime), several bike and hiking trails (which looked excellent), a fishing pond, and canoeing opportunities (rentals available) along the Tickfaw River. Unfortunately we were only able to stay for an overnight, but hopefully we will be able to return on our way back home.

The park has kid and adult friendly activities. We had a blast playing the bird migration game with one of the attendants. Every boardwalk, the nature center, the trails, and the restrooms are well kept and clean.
