Owner description: Picture the moss hanging on gnarled cypress trees as you travel into one of the wildest and most pristine river swamps in America. With the swamp tales of pirates and sightings of Big Foot in the back of your mind, you may be just a little bit nervous at first, but after your first boat ride you'll want to go back again and again! You'll be overcome by the primitive beauty of the cypress trees rising from the water...the sweet smell of wild azaleas in the air....

“Don't pass this up”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

Our guide Brian did all he could to make sure that we could see all that that was available. We knew that it had been cold and chances were not good to see a gator but just being out on the swamp was worth the trip. The driver that picked us up at the hotel talked and showed up parts or New Orleans that we wouldn't have seen on our own. All in all a perfect afternoon.

“Great fun!”
Reviewed January 31, 2013 via mobile

Our tour guide knew the swamp inside and out. Very neat experience. Went during non gator seaso but our guide tried so hard to find us one. Managed to find a few babies. Very reasonable price for the trip. Boat a little crowded. Suprising adventure, you'll see alot you didn't expect.

“Who Dat Swamp Tour”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

If you want the best swamp tour in the New Orleans area you need to tour Honey Island Swamp in Slidell. There is no other tour that is even close to bringing you the true swamp experience.
Starting with knowledgeable tour guides that make sure you get to see the swamp and its inhabitants up close but safely. You will see the birds, snakes, turtles, foliage, trees, and of course alligators....many alligators of various sizes from small to 15 footers. The guides will explain the life in the swamp and answer all questions, This is a must for those visiting the Big Easy.

“Fun on the bayou!!”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

Got a great deal with Groupon last year for $20.00 for two people for this swamp tour. Went last September. Still very muggy but tolerable. The swamp was beautiful and we got to see lots of gators! The highlight of the tour is when we saw "Goliath" who is around 12 or 13 feet in length. He swam right up to the boat and our tour guide threw him some marshmellows! Have never seen a gator that BIG up close in the wild! Looked like a dinasour :) We saw a beautiful Blue Heron perched by a cypress tree and some turtles on logs. Our tour guide was very knowledgable of the swamp and we enjoyed listening to his stories. I recommend this tour!!

“Not impressed”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

There were 3 of us that took this tour. The tour of the swamp was OK. The guide seemed knowledgeable enough about the swamp history, moss and telling us that the swamp was at a high water level, but I guess it's just too chilly this time of year for there to be wildlife out and about. My biggest problem was that we paid $22.00 a head for tansportation.
The website says: "Transportation is also available to and from New Orleans hotels and includes narrated scenic tour of the countryside to and from the swamp, including your return via I-10 across Lake Pontchartrain (the largest bridge in the country) (additional $22/adult; $17/child)" The driver barely spoke. He did aswer a few questions but there was nothing narrated. If you were in the back of the van you could barely hear him. We also did not come back over the largest bridge in the country. We had a rental car and gas for it would have been alot cheaper than $66.00.

We're sorry that you did not enjoy your trip and transportation with us. As you know somedays everyone has an off day and that was probably the case with the driver. We hope that does not deter you from enjoying the pristine and natural beauty that our swamps have to offer.
