“Total Rip Off”
Reviewed November 8, 2010

We did the City and Cemetery tour and were completely disappointed. We signed up for the 11am tour and got picked up at the tourist center. For the next HOUR we drove around to various hotels picking other people up! We drove down the same street no less than 4 times. Why do they not just have one or two pick up spots and people have to be there to get picked up. We finally started the tour at 12:10 after we had gone to pretty much every hotel in the French quarter. The tour itself was nothing special or exciting and didn't really give any more information than you could get from walking around yourself and reading one of the thousand brochures about the city. Three people got off mid tour it was so bad. We spent $100 for two people and I felt totally ripped off, I wish I could get my money back. I got a better tour of the city spending $1.25 and riding the St. Charles street car. I hear the swamp tour is good, but after this awful city tour (and the ghost tour wasn't great either) I will never use this company again when I visit New Orleans.

“Do not miss the opportunity!”
Reviewed November 6, 2010

Captain Ted was so informative and passionate about his beloved honey island swamp. We learned so much about the amazing ecosystem and culture that we left the tour with a newfound love and appreciation for the swamp, its creatures and its people. What a beautiful, educational and FUN experience! We will be back!

“Awesome swamp tour!”
Reviewed October 21, 2010

We drove up to Slidell from the French Quarter. I had previously booked the tour online and all we had to do was check in. They had a nice gift shop with reasonable prices. Our tour was at noon with Captain Ted......Captain Ted was the best tour guide. He knew the swamp like the back of his hand, as he spent much of his childhood there. The tour was educational, and we got to see gators, birds, a snake, and lots of turtles. He took us deep into the Honey Island Swamp, it was amazing.

“Cannot miss!”
Reviewed September 28, 2010

We took a combo Swamp and Plantation Tour on the same day. Our driver was fantastic. Ask for Stacey! She gave us a ton of information on everything from the sights we were visiting to her part in Katrina rescues and everything along the way. She even made a detour for us from the main route to see the Ninth Ward. It had been raining heavily and we almost got stuck in the mud by the levee, but it was a great adventure. Everyone was laughing and having a blast!
The swamp tour was awesome. They bait the gators with hot dogs and you're pretty much guaranteed to see their regular resident, Big Al--an 18 footer! The monster jumped out of the water several times to get at the hot dog, hitting the boat in the process. We all got amazing photos.

“Cajun Encounters - much wasted time”
Reviewed September 27, 2010

Last week, we took a tour offered by Cajun Encounters. We took the plantation tour and the city tour. We were told to be ready at our hotel at 8:30am. We were picked up at 9:00am and then spent another 30 minutes picking up other passengers. The tour was fine, and our bus driver was excellent. We were dropped off for lunch and told to be ready for pick up at 3:30. At 4pm, we were picked up and then dropped off at another location and waited until 4:30 for our City Tour. Although the tour was advertised as a 2.5 hour tour, our tour guide finished at 6:10, and we drove around dropping people off until 7pm. In summary, we wasted about 3 hours of our day dropping/picking up people. If you have limited time in New Orleans, I do not recommend this company - pick a company that starts at a certain time and save YOUR time riding around the city picking up people. I was amazed at how inconsiderate this company was with their customer's time. Also, the city tour was not as advertised (almost an hour less than promised). I would not recommend.
