“Unexpected pleasures”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2012

The chocolate coconut macaroons and warm individually wrapped brownies waited for us at check-in, and were delicious and unexpected pleasures, symbolic of our visit. All of the finishes in the hotel appear to have been upgraded to something more than you would expect for the price. The hotel's staff has a friendly and positive attitude, the sort of "can-do" spirit you would love to hire. Breakfast included a sausage and egg casserole that tasted like something Mom made (she's a good cook). Our rooms were very comfortable, stylishly decorated, as were all of the public areas, and seemed brand new. Clean is an obsession with this property. I enjoyed a pleasant conversation with several of the hotel's front desk personnel, especially Nancy, who explained to us that the property is privately owned by Newton Dorsett, an East Texas oil gazillionaire, who has high standards and the good sense to hire loyal and talented people. It would help if the property could add a full-service restauarant and/or lobby bar, and if Mr. Dorsett could do something about the dilapidated parking garage that adjoins (but is not part of) the property. There is a neighborhood bar on the other side from the garage, but that's a bit of a dive. The rooms we had faced an old alley, so how did The Remington solve the view issue? It commissioned beautiful etched glass carvings and fit them into window insets - problem solved. The windows allow light when desired, but protect the privacy of the occupant, and don't allow a view of the depressing alley. Instead, you see a beautiful piece of art in a suite decorated in the theme of a great artist. Bravo! Encore! (We'll be back.)

We chose The Remington as a family location and were not disappointed. Our 4 year old son was welcome, and we all enjoyed the indoor pool. Our suite allowed us plenty of privacy to enjoy adult time. And both mom and dad were able to have a great massage by massage therapist, Chip, before checking out!

The rooms are names after famous painters. The hotel is nice and our room was spacious. Downside they did not have the capability to rent movies while in the hotel because they had Comcast cable.

After meeting several couples for a high school reunion of sorts, we stayed at the beautiful classy Remington Suite Hotel. The manager, Nancy Sweeney couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The entire staff was ver accommodating. After dinner with our friends, we all came back to the hotel and continued visititng in the gorgeous comfortable lobby behind the front desk. We then walked next door to the Straycat Bar and ended the evening with a few cocktails before walking back to the hotel.

All the rooms are named after famous artist. Our room was the VanGough. It was decorated in deep blue and cream. It was a spacious deluxe suite, which had a seperate living room with a full size refridgerator, bar, writing desk, flat screen tv, sofa & 2 wing back chairs.....so comfortable & cozy!

The bedroom was luxurious! The king size bed was the most comfortable bed I've EVER slept in...& that's saying a LOT....my own is VERY Comfy! The bathroom has a Jacuzzi Tub & separate shower....Very nice! The breakfast was delicious.....especially the sausage & egg soufle'. Yummmola!

The entire stay at The Remington was Perfect! We look forward to our next visit!

The suite was spacious and the staff outstanding. We loved being so near to the riverfront. We will be back.

I stayed at the Remington for 4 nights on business, and I can honestly say I've never had better service. I valeted the entire time, and they even brought box fans to my room so I'd sleep better. The room was so luxurious and comfortable. The space was incredible esp since I stayed 4 nights. The front desk staff were all charming and so helpful. I'd stay here again anytime!

I took my wife out for a small getaway and stayed at this fabulous hotel. It was highly convenient to the boardwalk, clubs, casinos, and restaurants! Walking distance to anything you needed. The entire staff were super cool and helpful making a speedy process for check in and out. They were very helpful as well. The entire building was very clean and welcoming. The room was spacious! We really enjoyed the old historical look with todays touch of modern updates! Too much to write...We had a great time and will come back soon. We won't stay anywhere else when in the ararea! THANKS! Dee
