For romance and the ambiance, Village cannot be beat. Nice, quiet, dark, Village Grille has that part on the money.

The food however was just OK for the price. We have spent less at other places for better food. For our $200 ticket with no drinks, I feel my ribeye should have melted in my mouth, especially since having it cooked medium (it was cooked perfectly though), however it was a little tough and FULL of fat. I know ribeyes are a fatty cut of meat, but this one was mostly fat. My wife did love her filet, however we both felt the twice baked potato was a little dry.

Desert on the other hand was out of this world! We had a chocolate, peanut butter cake of some sort that was the most awesome thing I have had in a very long time.

For the bottom line on our ticket, I just feel like we should have walked away boasting about how we had just ate the most awesome dinner of our lives, instead we were wishing we had returned to one of the other fine dining steak houses in Shreveport that DID leave us telling others how awesome our dinner was.

The Village Grill is in an out-of-the-way location in a rather run-down part of Shreveport, so it really stood out as something unique as we rounded the corner. The simple-looking exterior and neon lights create an expectation of what will be inside making the nice, environment even all the more surprising.

- They have a Valet Parking sign out front, but the valet doesn't show up until after 6:00 pm, so don't sit waiting for him if you're early.
- They have no menu besides the wine list. The servers ARE the menus and do a great job of giving all the details and descriptions of a very good menu selection, including filets, great steaks, some seafood, and rack of lamb.
- If you have to ask how much the food is, don't go. It is pricey, so manage your expectations and selections so you won't be surprised or put in shock.
- The restaurant is small and intimate, with low lighting and nice decor.

If you are looking for a dark, cozy spot to schmooze, eat, drink and be merry...you have found your spot. We love The Village. If you are looking for a bright lights, big city steakhouse to celebrate your 10 year old's birthday...this is NOT your spot.
The restaurant is small and dark...just the way we like it. There are no printed menus. You should make a reservation if you're dining on the weekend. There is an excellent bar with several seats, an excellent bartender and a small lounge that is separate from the dining area. There are booths along a mirrored wall on both side of the restaurant and some tables in the middle. We prefer the booths on the right side. The lighting is dark...everyone looks better...very theatrical. The food, well...that's the best part...and don't worry if you forgot your reading glasses...there are no printed menus.
Your waiter will take your drink order, bring your water and bread, fresh from the oven. There are many, many choices of appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts, although most people order the Snowbear...trust me, it's good. We have our favorites which are the Crab Balls, Shrimp Lafayette and the Fried Artichoke Hearts w/crabmeat topping, but there are many others. The Oysters are delicious. Our favorite salad (which they gladly split) is the Maytag dressing w/roasted pecans. The wedge is also very good but it comes with onion which I don't love. The waiter will roll out a cart and show and tell about the entree choices using a pen light...he will also describe the fish special and tell you about the two pasta dishes. It's a long speech which they will repeat as many times as you need to hear it. It's all good. My last meal there was the 7 oz. filet with a side dish of creamed spinach. The steak was cooked to perfection and served with a dab of garlic potatoes. We have also had appetizers for dinner with a salad or a side. The side dish menu is vast.
There is a Wine Menu. There is a Martini Cart.
Phillip runs the show...he's The Man....Andy is tending bar...you'll meet Jeremy, Jessica and Jordan will valet park your car.
In our opinion, you get what you pay for. The Village is our go-to place for special occasions, a Friday night eat- at- the- bar drop-in or a mid-week quick bite. Phillip can assist with larger groups...we've had a dinner for 10 in the lounge and you will be well taken care of.
Bring your loved ones, your best friends and your buddies....but don't bring your baby. This is not the place for a baby.
The Village is an upscale Cheers! Everyone knows your name and what you like to drink and everyone enjoys meeting old friends and new people...wear what you like...no jacket required.

The food is very good, as is the service. The bartender is excellent and makes great martinis. The restaraunt is kept too dark. (A penlight is used to show menu items.) Overall, I find the Village Grill not worth the cost when there are several better local alternatives. BUt, many people seem to believe it is one of the best local restaurants.

The food is great, the wine is great, the waiters are great. They have wonderful bread, the salads and apps you can't miss. Order anything you will not be disappointed. Steaks are the best in town as well as the seafood. The desserts are great also.
