Took my wife there for her birthday. Very small, dark, and somewhat romantic place. The staff was friendly and the waiter was very knowledgeable. I was kind of worried initially about how we were going to read the menus because it was so dark. Problem was solved though, because they have no menu. The waiter speaks the menu to you. First time I've ever had that experience, although I have heard about it before. I still kind of miss reading off the menu and taking some time to decide. Another downside to the no menu deal is the unknown prices. This is where the pricey part of my review comes in, because although the food was on par with most other nice eateries, I probably would not have gotten the bone in rib-eye if I would have known it was $56, and that only came with a little dollop of mashed potatoes. The cheapest wines were 9 and 10 dollars a glass, the salad (just a regular house) was around 7 or 8 dollars. Anyhow, long review short. The food was good, not spectacular, the service was good although we did have to grab a busboy to get a refill on our empty glasses, and the price was high. Final thoughts, this is only a special occasion place due to the price and although it was a nice evening with good food, we will probably continue to try other places instead of revisiting.

This is local fine dining and only for extremely special occassions. VERY pricy, come prepared to spend over $100.00 Their bread is amazing. Menu is seafood and steaks. Lobster is great! We eat here once in a blue moon because it's so expensive. But hey, if you have the extra cash - go for it!

The best in Shreveport , food great , service great, u don't last 25 years if ur food isn't great. A lot of people say it's pricy but it says that when u click on the restaurant off the bat. Put in ur price range if u want a cheap place.

Expensive but very good. This is a small place and hard to find. I found the food and service there to be excellent. You may need reservations, so check. A great place for a quiet romantic dinner.

Myself and a co-worker were visiting the area and decided to try the Village Grille based on the excellent reviews it received. From first glance, the place seems nice -- Art Decco decor, Frank Sinatra music playing in the background. Unfortunately the place is very dark and a bit uncomfortable but no worries there's no menu to read so the lighting isn't a big problem. And yes, I said there's no menu. The wait staff are required to memorize and recite the menu to the customers. This isn't a big deal when a place has only a few items to choose from but when the list goes on and on, it's just annoying. You constantly have to ask the waiter/waitress to repeat themselves (because they're talking so fast) and it's difficult to get the "big picture" on what your meal will consist of. And lastly, the food was just plain average. I've been to a lot of 5 star restaurants throughout the states and this place wasn't 5 star. The food was often drenched in cheese or sauce and not impressive at all. Two appetizers, two salads, a steak entree, a shrimp entree, and one glass of wine totaled $150 (including tip). Definitely not worth that kind of money. Take my advise and go to the Mabry House around the corner. The ambiance is nice, they have a written menu, and the food is great.
