“Vastly overlooked gem”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

If in Shreveport and looking for something to do or see, you really should check this gem out. Privately funded and operated, "The Norton" is an enjoyable way to pass some time. Its building, grounds, and collection simply brighten any day. Just off the beaten path and adjacent to restaurant-row, this museum is a small treasure.

Dr. Scott says: Do check it out, especially if the azaleas are blooming.

“Good regional museum”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

Our bus driver (on a tour of Shreveport) told us the Norton was as good as any museum in the world. It wasn't, but it was a very nice regional museum.

“Search for wood carving of dog with puppies”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

About 50 years ago I visited my brother at Barksdale Air Force Base. We went to an art museum nearby. I saw a wood carving of a dog and puppies. Later in life I received a smaller size replica of the same carving.

Does anyone know if the carving is still in a museum. I would love to know the name of the woodcarver of the one I saw in the museum.

“Can't Believe we have not been here before!!!”
Reviewed September 29, 2013 via mobile

This is by far the best attraction you will find in the Shreveport/Bossier area. The Norton family has an amazing collection of art that they allow visitors to view free of charge. Millions of dollars of paintings, sculptures, firearms & dolls. What an amazing gallery. If you are here.....GO!
