“What bit me?”

We arrived in Shreveport on the way through to Florida in the middle of the night, and we were basically stopping at every hotel at this exit looking for a room. Thankfully, the Hilton Garden Inn had a room available and checked us in quickly and professionally.

The parking lot is well lit and has sufficient space for a fully booked hotel, but I would offer one word of caution. The sprinklers to the West of the hotel turned on shortly after we arrived, and since I had pulled my car all the way up to the curb, the rather curious sprinkler positioning had water shooting up into my engine.

The common area of the hotel seemed very clean for what little time we were there. The room was a bit different. The bedding and furnishings were nice enough, but the floors and especially the bathroom left a lot to be desired.

The main issue, however, was what bit me? I've been bitten by a lot of different critters in my day, but either someone has been feeding mosquitos steroids, or this was something I haven't come across before. I know it can be difficult to control pests, and to allay any fears of the obvious, no, we didn't bring anything home with us.

Hopefully, this experience was a fluke (no, not *that* kind of fluke), but like I said, the room really wasn't in keeping with the quality of the rest of the hotel. If you're in a pinch, it's fine, but if you have a choice, I would look at some alternatives.

Hotel needs some general cleaning and maintance, the hotel looks much older than four years. During my stay there was daily police action in the area. There are no dining close except for fast food. It does have good access to the freeway, it is not the closest HG to the airport.

The Hilton Garden Inn Shreveport (HGI) has an attractive clean campus as do many of the Inns along the Financial Plaza strip near the airport. It seemed like the HGI was pushed to capacity when we arrived and our check in was slow. Perhaps this was because of the Mudbug Festival that was occurring during that time period. However, the front counter clerks pleasantly serviced anxious guest adding a smile or two. During our stay one of the clerks even remembered my name and greeted me whenever I passed by. Very welcoming.

Checking in late, our reserved room was not ready. We were placed in a handicapped accessible room that was filthy. Broken window pulls, mold on the wall, muddy footprints on the sticky bathroom floor, broken microwave, dirty toilet, no air - smelled musty, yet clean beds. Lobby was beautiful. Night staff was uncaring. We hope the management will see this review and restore ALL rooms in the hotel to Hilton standards so we can return in the future.

The hotel was very clean, convenient and provided all of the amenities a family would need to travel comfortably and stay connected. The staff was very accommodating and professional. Will definitely return.

For $85 a night, not bad. But getting ambushed with a $13 bill for a "breakfast buffet" that is pretty nuch the same size as any other continental breakfast, not so good. rooms were clean and up to date. The beds were kinda hard, bu that is more opinion as I prefer much softer beds.

Upon checking in, we went to our room (early evening) and the temp was 82 ... yikes. Went back to the desk and the very kind and competent staff person found us another room which, at first, was comfortable. Unfortunately, we were awakened in the middle of the night when the AC, again, proved inadequate ... it had risen to 77. There was no cover on the AC controls, and it looked like it would default to 85 ... in August ... in Louisiana. The temperature in the room was bad enough, but the mattress made things only worse ... extremely uncomfortable. There was gum (or some other sticky substance) on the carpet, and large bags of trash off the hallways near the elevator. The staff all seem very nice, but this place needs work.
