Recommended to us by the owner of our nearby hotel, this restaurant in the seemingly quiet town of St. Martinville was a real gem. Here we had our first and best taste of basic Louisiana cooking (seafood gumbo and etouffee as well as curly fries and alligator nuggets for the kids). The staff was friendly, helpful and very accommodating to our children who insisted on mix and match meals. Although we ate in some lovely restaurants afterward, we never again found a restaurant to match it as a first experience (particularly the gumbo). Highly recommended!!
