This place has one of the best shrimp po-boys I have ever eaten. And being from South Louisiana, I've had quite a few. The gumbo, the burgers, the Sunday bar-b-que...Everything is great!

There aren't many choices in a small town to find a not just 'all-right' restaurant, but to find food scrumptious enough to go back to and spend your hard earned dollars. Bon Creole is a place to go back to over and over again--it's southern food made right. I had the seafood combo po-boy and it was so stuffed with yummy seafood that I couldn't possibly eat it all at once, in fact, it ended up being three meals!
Bon Creole has been featured in travel shows and for once I agree with the shows--if you want a taste of Louisiana, go to Bon Creole!
And, the service was excellent!

The previous reviews are spot-on; this is an excellent stop for lunch. From the outside, it looks a little sketchy, but the interior dining room (counter service only) is very comfortable. The po-boys are truly excellent. I'd recommend any of the seafood sandwiches (and baskets), and if you have a non-seafood eater with you, the roast beef po-boys are also very good. Price are reasonable and portions large (a half po-boy would be enough for most appetites, but visitors with good appetites will probably want to treat themselves to the full po-boy).

The only thing I wasn't impressed by was the sausage gumbo. It wasn't bad or anything, just not impressive. Stick to the sandwiches.

This quirky local hang out is one of a kind. It's got a small sign on top of the little building with nothing fancy on the outside. No pretensions inside either. What they do, they do well. To your right as you enter, there's a gigantic alligator head in a scale on top of a safe! To the left are stools at a mirrored bar just the right height for a hungry man to support his elbows as he scarfs down a scrumptous po boy. Yes, I tried the seafood, shrimp, oyster AND crawfish Po Boys AND gumbo. Yum. All were off the Goodness Scale! Bon Creole has an uncomplicated menu. The place is clean and service excellent. There is ample table seating on the other side of the bar. You'll appreciate the food, atmosphere and animals on display including a buffalo head and crawfish hanging on the wall. The place has character and so do the customers. Go, eat, drink, enjoy!

Had seen this rated 5 star on Trip Advisor, but when we drove up, we almost thought it was closed - the outside is barely painted and kind of decrepit. We saw a customer come out, so we got a grip and entered.

The daily special was sold out, so we had the gumbo. Holy smokes! From the first bite, it was true love. The place was full of local people, and we could catch up on local gossip just by eating our meals and keeping our ears open ;-) It was a real surprise, a delightful surprise, to find food this good hidden away behind a dumpy exterior.
