This is a very conveniently located Inn. Just up the street from the Cane River and all the shops and restaurants along the banks. My room was clean but for some odd reason didn't have a window that faced outside - just opened onto the interior hallway (?) Walls fairly thin - heard baby crying in room next door. Breakfast is disappointing - prefab, soggy cold eggs, limp cold sausage, white sandwich bread for toast. Blah. Skipped it the second morning and went across the street to the Breakfast Nook Cafe and had excellent quiche and fresh berries. Staff at Church St. Inn are young and agreeable, but fairly inexperienced (college town employees?) The Inn is a converted Bank so might explain some of the incongruous room layouts. All in all, Natchitoches is a picturesque, magical little town with an amazing history, surrounded by great beauty. The Church Street Inn is an adequate, safe, clean place to stay located in the very best spot. Also convenient, safe parking too - just in back!

The location is fantastic since you can walk anywhere downtown. The parking is good and safe. There's something rather plain about this hotel. The room was clean and quiet. The bed wasn't too comfortable. The shower had little water pressure. There were good things (a nice small kitchenette and nice linens). The decor was nice, but something didn't seem very personal about this inn. The breakfast wasn't very tasty and the breakfast room isn't attractive. It's always odd when the maids are hanging out waiting for you to check-out. Be careful about your room. A couple of them don't have windows that look outside, which is odd. They have a window that looks into the hallway. I guess I thought the place would have more charm and be a bit more unique. It's like any hotel anywhere, except it's in such a charming town. I would stay there again because of the location, which can't be beat. I think the price must reflect where it is located and not the value of the room which is average.

If you have ever seen or are a fan of the iconic film Steel Magnolias, and have ever asked yourself, "Where did they film that?" the answer would be Natchitoches, Louisiana. (Pronounced Nack i tish) This wonderful bucolic little town is located in west central Louisiana and is the most relaxing place on earth, as far as I am concerned. The house where Malynn, Drum, and Shelby lived, laughed, and cried in the film, is a real house, and is now a bed and breakfast on the Jefferson Street, which is an extension of Front Street, just off the center of town.

In the very center of town is a wonderful small hotel called the Church Street Inn. What a lovely place this is. The rates are very reasonable. The service is excellent, and the rooms are large, comfortable and spotless. Nactchitoches is about an hour south of Shreveport and about a half an hour north of Alexandria.

If you are in the area and are looking for a weekend or short getaway, this is the perfect place to go and the Church Street Inn is the perfect place to stay.

Room Tip: The deck on the second floor overlooking Church Street is a great place for enjoying a glass of wine...

My husband and I were very much looking forward to this trip and to our stay at the Church Street Inn which seems to have very good reviews. However, we have to disagree with most of the points. They do have an excellent downtown location for walking to shops and restaurants and they do have free secure parking. A plus is the free and fast Wi-Fi in the rooms.

For us the down side points overwhelmed the good points. I will try to be brief and let you make up your own mind. Check-in is done by ONE person only at a tiny desk in the "lobby", we waited at least 20 minutes in line. Finding the single luggage rack to bring your belongings into the "hotel" - sometimes written up as a bed and breakfast or a boutique hotel" - was challenging and hopeless. The room was quite small, but acceptable; however, the noisy wall air conditioner/heater would give even the deepest sleeper some pause. But the worst of the downside was the horrible, bumpy bed with the sheets that did not fit - so that you ended up tangled all night long. We did ask about the sheets being too short and were told that it was all they had.

Travelers be cautious and decide what you can live with at the price point.

Room Tip: We stayed in #209 - very bad view - horribly uncomfortable bed. Small room.

First of all thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. We are disappointed that you had anything other than an exceptional experience while staying with us.
Your concerns as expressed are uncommon, but nonetheless important to us.
As for the delay upon check-in it does happen on occasion that all the visitors arrive at that same time. We are increasing our staff coverage at heavy check-in times to help alleviate this problem. We do have two luggage carts available for guest use but do not have a bellman as it is customary to not have one for a small hotel such as ours'. The room, noise & bed quality are of utmost concern and rest assured will be addressed immediately. We will personally go and check that particular room as well as others. As new owners of a 10+year hotel we are committed to making necessary improvements to maintain the exceptional comfort & luxury the inn is known for. With this in mind, we have recently expanded the continental breakfast to include new breakfast items including eggs, sausage, & biscuits in addition to a variety of fresh muffins, bagels & fruit.
Again I would like to thank you for your input as we are always eager to hear from our guests in order that we may continue to improve and enhance the experience of guests in the future!

We stayed downstairs in The Melrose.

Positives: Great location! We parked the car in the gated lot and walked everywhere to eat and shop. The receptionist at the front desk was helpful and friendly. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The jetted tub was also nice. The fast, free wifi was also a good bonus.

Negatives: The carpet could use a good steam cleaning. For the price of the room I expected more for breakfast than a simple store bought continental. However I heard that they just came under new management and were looking for a cook. Our room was next to the staff entrance, patio, kitchen, and gate. All of which were noisy very late and very early.

Overall I would stay here again but request a room upstairs.

We often go to Natchitoches for our sister trips but this was the first time we went to the Mardi Gras night parade. We usually stay at different B & B's in town but this time we decided to stay at Church St. Inn. What a great decision that was. The staff were all great and very helpful. They even let us have a late check out because of a bad storm in the area at regular check out time. Location Location Location. It is only a half a block off of front street and Mama's Oyster Bar, ( one of our favorite places) is right thru the parking lot. Merci Beaucoup is directly across the street. The room was very clean and (212) was the biggest room at the Inn and right next to the balcony. We met a bunch of friendly people and enjoyed a few adult beverages up there. Whether you are going for one night or a week, this is the place to be in Natchitoches and we will stay here again.

Room Tip: 212 is the biggest room and near the elevator and balcony. It has a king size but we were able to re...

Attended a company meeting, this was a perfect location. Our group enjoyed hanging out on the balcony before dinner. Our room was very nice and spotless. The locationis excellent, very close to resturants and shopping.
