Since Semolina is located in a shopping mall, you can look at it in either of two ways: (1) It is a good restaurant in a poor location...or (2) it is a dining oasis in an otherwise food-court environment. My opinion leans toward the second way.
Seating is comfortable and lighting is subdued. The menu features pasta of some variety in most every entree, with imaginative combinations of sauces, veggies, spices, and meat or seafood. There is something for everyone, including picky eaters and kids. I can recommend the Chicken Florentine, which is served over linguini, Shrimp Roban, which is served over sauce-scooping seashell pasta, a surprisingly superb Pad Thai, and Chicken Enchilada pasta employing penne pasta.
Whether you choose the house salad or the Caesar side salad, you won't be disappointed.
The wine list is somewhat limited, but mixed drinks are big and strong.
We were seated promptly. Service is friendly but don't expect four-star waiters. The young man who served our entrees (not our waiter) explained that the reason our entrees were placed in front of the wrong diners is that he had the information - who ordered which dish - but he was in a rush. Oh well, give him credit for honesty.
I reserve a rating of five only for must-visit establishments. A four if it is very good, and a three if it is good. This restaurant is somewhere between good and very good, a three-point five...but I will round up, since it is, after all, a dining oasis in an otherwise food-court environment.
