This is neighborhood restaurant that many people come to in order to eat great Italian food. Atmosphere is very casual and the wait staff is excellent.

Have been there numerous times because it is mostly dependable. Should be a lot better given how long its been open and ex-chef now has his own restaurant around the corner. Ordinary old-school Italian menu and wine list, but nothing exciting or remarkable. Decent but not great. Not much else to say

My only complaint is the system does not allow me to give them a sixth or seventh star! They are just that damn good! Ate here last night with my wife's family (It was her sisters birthday) and Nathan was our waiter. Hands down he was absolutely outstanding. His assistant was a young blond boy (I'm 63 so everyone under the age of 30 is a boy) and he was wonderful! I've eaten at Austin's, Ruth's, Copland's, Commanders, Mr Ed's and many others this year but Nathan and this young man were absolutely fantastic. The food was just as good as the service! I am not a big Italian food fan but this was exceptional. Everything was fresh, cooked to perfection and delicious. This IS the best Italian food in the city, state and quite possibly the country. It is just that good. The deserts do not take a backseat to the main course. The creme bruela was outstanding!

If you're looking for a romantic dinner, or a great place to take the family, Vincent's fits both descriptions, and most importantly, has GREAT good. Vincent the owner is usually on site and will pass by your table and say hello. Don't miss THE place to have a great dinner when you're in the mood for Italian good.

Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land
Now, I understand, what you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now

This is a tough review to write. We are spending a weekend eating our way through New Orleans and staying outside the Quarter.

Vincent's looked like a good choice as we had a taste for Italian. The menu looked great, and in addition to a location in the CBD, this store was Metarie, just a few miles from our airport hotel. The GPS started to take us into a residential neighborhood, probably due to more funky Louisiana traffic planning and we arrived at Vincent's, a modest two story building with a modest sign declaring the name.

By the door in the parking lot was a red corvette with the vanity tag CUISINE and a guest who was leaving said the owner was inside, which we liked. Less than 10'seconds from walking through the door, a short Italian man walks up and extends his hand. I questioned , "Vincent?" and he said, "I know you!" But no I wasn't who he thought, but never the less, after a 20 minute wait we sat down for dinner in an intimate room by the bar.

Our server, we learned had been there 17 years, since she was 15; had her PhD in microbiology, and was leaving soon to move to Seattle. Vincent came to our table and helped us make our selections, telling us that the Cannelloni and the Ossobucco would be the best we had or would ever have... We did, and while never say never the Cannelloni without question knows no equal. We had the artichoke Rose of Sicily which is like nothing you will find anywhere, and of course it tingled the palate. Stuffed (we were) in between we had the corn and crab soup in a bread bowl. We ordered but cancelled the lasagna because everything was so rich and we felt too at this point.

We got canolli's to go.... But I haven't eaten them yet :-).

Something special happened when we got our check. I'm not sure what happened but I questioned why it was so little. Our server told us that Vincent got us a couple of dishes!

We wonder if he was swayed by my girlfriends response to his statement to her that she looked familiar? It will remain our joke.

You will see us again Vincent!

We give this place 5 + 5, and we are serious foodies!

They would not listen,
they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now....
