Consistently great food. This was our 5th time here. We always go early when they have just opened so have never had a problem getting a table. Can't believe that someone was bothered by the exterior of the building - it's what they do inside that counts! It is delicious!

This is one of those places where you never get a bad meal. I enjoy both of their locations, although I prefer the uptown atmosphere of the one on St. Charles. Either location, the food is great.

I love Italian-Creole cuisine, and Vincent's does it better than anybody. This location accepts only phone reservations, and neon letters above the restaurant's sign out front announce "Seating available", nostalgically reminding us that this is the way that messages were conveyed in the old days, prior to online reservations and tweeting.

Inside, tables are closely packed, servers rush back and forth, and conversation is sometimes a bit loud, yet diners are still comfortable knowing that this is all part of the authentic old New Orleans Italian family dining experience. Last night, a musician softly added to the atmosphere with Italian favorites, while the proprietor watched over the dining rooms and skillfully orchestrated his talented wait staff like a maestro, leaving no diner neglected.

The menu at Vincent's is absolutely fantastic. There were daily specials that are rarely seen on local menus, as well as great options in every section on the menu: appetizers (oysters almondine and Artichoke Vincent, which is shrimp, crabmeat, tomato, green onions and fried artichoke hearts topped with lemon tarragon cream sauce), pastas (homemade canelloni and sauteed Italian oysters), meat (baby white veal bracialoni and grilled boneless duck breast), chicken (stuffed chicken breast and chicken marsala), seafood (sauteed fresh fish and stuffed shrimp in phylo pastry with crabmeat cream sauce), and veal (osso bucco and veal picata). See what I mean?!? There are many other excellent choices as well.

We had the "eggplant chips" appetizer; this consists of bite-sized slices of eggplant, well-seasoned and perfectly fried, with a marinara sauce on the side. Wonderful, and what a great and simple improvement they have made by making the slices bite-sized so that each bite is crispy, intact, and fried on all sides. This was followed by house salads, included with the price of the entree; the bleu cheese vinagrette dressing is extremely delicious.

My beautiful health-conscious wife chose the herb-encrusted salmon as her entree. this nice-sized piece of broiled fish is served with a amazingly large amount of jumbo lump crabmeat, and a beurre blanc sauce. Sides last night included garlic braised spinach and steamed asparagus. The kitchen was very careful and accommodating of her dietary restrictions as well; the failure to do so has soured meals at many other restaurants so this is important.

I ordered one of the eight or nine daily specials - the softshell crab and crabcake combination. I substituted marina sauce for the crawfish etouffee that was to be served atop the softshell crab and had no regrets. The softshell crab was large, plump, and perfectly fried, while the crabcake was nicely spiced and chock full of crabmeat. I have never seen such a generously extravagant use of crabmeat, and it was all as good as it sounds. Side dishes included homemade pasta with alfredo sauce and broccoli with a light cheese topping.

A small selection of nice wines is all they really need, and this is what they have. We found the La Crema Pinot Noir to be quite pleasing.

To sum it up, Vincent's is our new favorite Italian restaurant and we can't wait to return.

This charming place features wonderful Italian food in a quiet environment. A neighborhood restaurant in Metairie, just outside New Orleans, Vincent's features handmade manicotti that is superb. The veal piccata is also delicious, as is the bread. We devoured the creamy spumoni for dessert. The owner stopped by our table ( linen tablecloths and candles in the evening) to for a pleasant conversation. They've been in business for thirty years, and I see why. Everything, including the staff, is well worth the price, and the trip.

We have been to Vincent's many times but I think this was the best meal we have ever had there. It has always been good, but last night was fantastic. The Artichoke appetizer was both different and excellent. The softshell crab topped with seafood was great, the lamb chops were fantastic and the Veal Robert was one of the best veal dishes - anywhere, ever! The restaurant was very busy but service was wonderful and even though it was crowded, we never felt rushed. Do make reservations, espcially on a weekend night.
