“A hidden Gem”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

We went in the late afternoon for a late lunch, it was fabulous. The seafood was fresh and service was great. We actually had some friends in town, and when they wanted to go out for a seafood dinner later that evening we actually went back in the same day.
We didnt have a wait and the service was great. We tried about 4 seafood restaurants that night but the wait times were over an hour. With Sid-Mar's we walked right in and were seated.
I had not been since pre storm but I can tell you even with a different location the food and service are definitely worth the trip.

“Complete overhaul and relocation due to Katrina”
Reviewed August 5, 2011

Sid-Mar's was originally located in BuckTown prior to Katrina. On Lake Pontchartrain facing the 17th St Canal, the somewhat ramshackle seafood restaurant had ambiance, service, and great seafood with a bar that attracted the local fishermen.
The relocated and new Sid-Mar Restaurant now has an elegant bar lounge overlooking its large dining area decked out in Fine Dining appearance but maintains the same lower priced menu with the same great seafood selections --- all tasty cuisine. I look forward to my next visit to New Orleans to sample the Softshell crabs and crawfish.
