I was apprehensive about booking here due to the mixed reviews. However, I traveled to New Orleans during Voodoo Fest and a national dental convention so there were absolutely NO other hotels that I could find with available rooms. I figured that we would just be in the hotel to sleep and then out all day so I figured this would be just fine. Let me say that I have traveled extensively and have never had a problem with any hotel that I have ever stayed at. It started when I checked in. Check in was quick and easy no issues, but then we went up to our room. First thing you notice when you step off the elevator is the smell. (Another reviewer commented on this as well, he was not lying). The smell is wierd, kind of like a cross between a wet dog and spoiled sauerkraut. The halls reeked of it and it made me legit gag. The smell only seems to be in the hallway because the rooms smelled just fine. We entered into the room and noticed that even with the one overhead light on the room was extremely dim. We went to go turn on the lamps (there are three total in each room) and discovered that one lamp did not work at all, even though it was plugged in, and then the other two lamps each had a light bulb out. We also noticed the "budget" pillows on the bed. They are little micro pillows, not even full size. (In all fairness, they were comfortable.) Also, Tv's are outdated. (This was not really a concern for us).We then turned down the bed and there were huge stains on our white sheets, gross! I immediately called down to the front desk and informed the clerk about the lamps and sheets. He apologized and told me new room. The sheets were promptly checked and appeared fine, but once again, one of the lamps had a light bulb out. To his credit, Brian the front desk clerk did call the room to see if it was satisfactory. I found the Wi-Fi to be spotty. I could not connect until the very last night, grrrrr! When I informed him of the light bulb, he promptly brought a new light bulb to the room so we could change it out. The next day a lady knocked on our door asking if she could pick up our dirty towels and said that housekeeping would be by shortly and they would replenish the towels. We skipped the continental breakfast and went to New Orleans. The drive was short 10-15 minutes. We left the hotel at about 11:00 am and returned at about 11:30 that evening. Went up to our room and was suprised that the door key was not working. Went back to the front desk and the clerk Brian stated that "I think the key is only programmed for one night since that is all that you were staying." I stated no, I booked two nights and recieved a confirmation that states that. He looked in the computer and said that I was right and reprogrammed my card. We then returned to our room. We entered the room and lo and behold it was in the same state we left it. Bed unmade, no fresh towels, trashcan overflowing with takeout containers, the room had been untouched. I called down to the front desk and asked if housekeeping did not come everyday. Brian stated that yes they did and he was unsure why they had not been to our room. He said that he would leave a note for the housekeeping manager and that he would bring me fresh towels and that he would come personally empty the trash. Our final day, my daughter and I were just dressed and getting ready to grab our bags and go checkout. Checkout is at 11:00 am and it was about 9:30. We heard someone sticking the key card in the door slot trying to gain entrance into the room. I opened the door and it was a male housekeeper. He saw me and said Sorry and continued to another room. At this point I became upset. There was no knock at the door, no calling out housekeeping, just him trying to enter the room. (Another reviewer said this occurred to her at 9:00 am also and that she was almost caught in an intimate situation). Luckily we were dressed, but I was not happy! Overall, when I was checking out and was asked how I enjoyed my stay I replied that I did not. I was told "sorry." I would more than likely not stay here again. The pros of this were Brian, the front desk clerk. Very helpful and great customer service. He offered to look up places to eat on the internet for us and even called them to check their hours. He offered to come empty our trash when housekeeping neglected our room. He apologized for each infraction and readily rectified it. Also while booking over the phone I spoke with someone named Ava who was quick and effiecient and granted me a goverment rate when I inquired about it. Unfortunately, that is where the pros end. I am not super picky and realize that for the price 85.00 a night, I was not expecting a five star hotel for a two star hotel price. However, I do expect my sheets to be stain free and just the basics such as housekeeping. Form your own opinion from my experience, however I would not stay here again.

This was not a good location. When we got to our room there was vomit on the floor. Terrible parking.
