“Wow, avoid this Outback”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013

Teriyaki filet was so salty as to be nearly inedible and the rice was just to boring to be eaten. My wife had the grilled chicken which was so bland that she didn't eat it and we brought it home to feed to our cat. She ordered some mashed potatoes to go with the chicken which were simply inedible. I simply can not express how disgusting these potatoes were, truly awful... really how do you mess up potatoes that badly? Just foul. We have never, ever complained about a meal.. but here we did. To be fair they offered to bring a new side the waitress was very pleasant. Good service but you might avoid the food here.

“Newly Renovated”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013 via mobile

What can you say. It's Outback. Food is ok. Service is good. Staff is friendly. Wait goes pretty fast - move people through at a speedy rate. Restaurant is renovated circa 2013ish. Very nice lobby. Always a buzz in the air. Make the trip.

“Marrero Steakhouse on Barataria Blvd....friendly and convenient!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

I have never had a problem with an Outback. When I'm on the road looking for something local and can't find exactly what I want, there is always an Outback to run to. This one, right on Barataria Blvd offers what other similar steakhouses do but this one is staffed by local West Bankers. West Bank, "The Best Bank," the other Bank on the west bank of the Mississippi River as opposed to New Orleans on the East Bank (This analogy was for those not familiar with the nose in the air effect our West Bank restaurants have on the New Orleans crowd). We are always welcomed at the door and sometimes seated later due to large crowds of diners. The menu is the same but, again, it's on the West Bank and more family oriented at early dinner and a great place to catch a games in the evening. Eat at the bar, a booth or takeout.

From here, take Barataria, South, down to Lafitte-Larose (or Kern Blvd) and drive down to The Bayou of Lafitte, Crown Point, Jean Lafitte, Jean Lafitte State Park or the Town of Barataria for a swamp tour. That's a daylight swamp tour...the Bayou can be spooky at night with plenty of red eyes in the water. Red as in large gators!

Marrero is a fast growing community filled with other restaurants and local fare.

“Avoid and go to Texas Roadhouse instead!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

I've only been here twice in the past 10 years or so, but not by choice. (Family birthdays, etc.) The first time, we each ordered something with shrimp or crawfish toppings and all got severe food poisoning from it. We learned to not order seafood at a steak place.

The second time, we were seated right away, but waited fifteen minutes to see a server or be served water. Also the silverware was covered in gradu. We got as far as the brick (bread) on a cutting board and left.

I have friends who rave about this place. I fail to see how Outback superior in any way to Texas Roadhouse. Seriously.
