Pamplona is a Spanish bistro style restaurant and bar in downtown Lafayette. You can order tapas or entrees, like paella, steak and fish. The broiled fish was truly delicious and we enjoyed most of the tapas (the fried cheese croquettes didn't wow me). The wine list has a lot of interesting options by the glass, plus sangria, absinthe, and exotic cocktails. Personally, I like the red sangria better than the white sangria because it's less sweet. There really is no other restaurant like this in the area and you feel like you are in Spain or Argentina.

Impeccable menu coupled with items made from scratch!. Paella by request. Bar seating rather uncomfortable and ac will freeze you out but if it's nice outside, eat/dine al fresco. Menu is delightful and is great for a romantic rendezvous or ladies lunch.

Food is mediocre and prices are ridiculously high! I ate the Chorizo stuffed mushrooms... couldn't find any chorizo, only cheese and mushrooms. The special tapas was a fried soft-shell crab. It was okay but $14 for one crab is very expensive. I can get a fried soft-shell crab dinner at local restaurants for the same price! Table we ate at had a badly stained window shade. Since the table is up against the window this was not very appetizing. My advice is to eat somewhere else.

The Pamplona Tapas Bar of Lafayette, Louisiana was a great find and within walking distance of our hotel on the tree-lined Jefferson Street. We sat down, looked at the menu and started ordering all different things “Tapas” instead of the main entrée. That was because we had dinner plans for another restaurant on Jefferson but wanted a drink and a small tapas to hold us over. We should never have left for the reservation. The atmosphere was definitely Spain Spanish as we have both traveled extensively across Europe. The tapas ran from $6.00 to bigger meal size offering around $16.00. The bar staff never stopped smiling and speaking with us in describing each and every tapas. I’ve included a photo of the menu and hopefully it’s still current. This is a great place to start or finish a night of partying or for the college kids to take their parents to. You can have both crowds in at the same time and it was full of conversation. We will be back but….sometimes….you just have to do the Cajun restaurants and that was this restaurant’s main competition. But, if you crave something International, then by all means, visit and eat!

Just went back to Pamplona after an 18 month break. The "Tapas" have been - novelle cuisined - and very poorly. Service and atmosphere was still good but good food is a prerequiste.

Very disappointed
