I have a rule that we wait 90 days before we go to a new restaurant, but I love La Madeline across the country, and I have not been feeling well, so we decided to give it an early chance. It has only been open for a couple weeks so this was really taking a “new restaurant risk”. Outside of the service being a little slow this restaurant was spot on tonight. Clean dining area, polite servers, orders correct, and most important THE FOOD WAS GREAT!!!
If you have never been to a La Madeline you should check out the website first. There is a wide variety of food, and the menu remains consistent from location to location. Even more important is the fact that the food tends to remain consistent from location to location.
I had the TOMATO BASIL soup and if it is your first time I suggest you start with this soup. Yes, it is a factory kitchen soup but it is fabulous. Memories from your childhood of a soup and sandwich come back with the duet magnifique. I paired my soup with the Croque Monsieur. This is another signature item on the menu and I suggest it to a first timer.
If you enjoy quiche it is excellent here. Two people at our table had it and they both said it was almost as good as what we make a home, and at home a quiche is an all-day project!
Overall, they have a little growing to do to speed up the food. We had two orders at our table and they did not come out at the same time, but that is a minor problem. Everything about this location says that it will be an excellent addition to the Lafayette dining market, and considering we have some of the best food in the country that says a lot! Welcome to Lafayette La Madeline. You’re going to do just fine here!
