Several Mexican restaurants in the area, but this is my fave. Great food, friendly, fast service.

“Not just another Mexican Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2012

This is truly a quaint and friendly place! The food is wonderful and with service that makes you feel you are eating at the owners home. Speaking of the owner, she is from El Salvador and she has put on the menu a traditional Salvadorian dish called "papusa". It is similar to a stuffed tortilla. Stuffed with either cheese, beans or pork, and comes with a delicious sauce. After spending many years in El Salvador I can assure the visitor it is authentic and delicious. Lafayette, Louisiana is home to many excellent restaurants, from home-cooking to fine dining. Try the "papusa" at La Pagua, you will not be disappointed.

“Best Tex-Mex in Lafayette”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2011

It isn't authentic Mexican food, but you aren't going to find that in Lafayette. It is good Tex-Mex food, and it is prepared and served from a little hole in the wall at the back of a vertical strip center out Johnston Street. Have some black bean soup, tamales, a beef enchilada, then go up front to Baskin Robbins for a scoop (or two) of ice cream. There. Now you've completely blown your diet, and you can start all over again in the morning.
