“Good food if you can survive the wait”
Reviewed December 26, 2013 via mobile

This place is adorable but if you're looking for a quick bite go somewhere else. Including the wait to get seated it took 2.5 hours. We were visiting family so it wasn't a problem but worth mentioning. We ordered the Acadian breakfast sandwich, bowl of gumbo, a cheeseburger and the meatloaf sandwich. We all really enjoyed our food and the prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere is interesting and the waitstaff was very friendly.
The only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 is that after waiting for 1hr 45min the food wasn't delivered together, the gumbo & breakfast sandwich arrived first, the cheeseburger arrived 5 minutes later and then the meatloaf sandwich was another 10 after that.
Overall a fun menu and place to eat.

“An Absolute Gem!”
Reviewed December 14, 2013

If you go to Lafayette then The French Press is an absolute must!

I was attending the Southern Screening Festival and meeting up with some friends from LA when we stumbled upon The French Press. I, being from Montréal liked the name.

Well, I was amazed by the quality of the food. I can only say that everything on the menu was really, really good. So good in fact that for the 5 days we were in Lafayette we ate there 8 times. Yes, 8 TIMES!

Try it, you'll love it !

Only open for dinner fri. & sat. evenings. Open for breakfast & lunch the rest of the week. Dinner was great. Service was way above great. Really neat downtown location.

“Delicious and Inventive”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

French Press does not disappoint. I've eaten dinner and brunch there recently and was blown away by the creativity of the chef. The dinner menu is creative and inventive and does not disappoint on flavor. Brunch is like nothing in the city - the biscuits with boudin are yummy and the grits and grillades are wonderful. French Press is a not-to-miss restaurant when you are in Lafayette.

“A great breakfast dining experience”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

From the get geaux, the staff was friendly and attentive. Our waiter, Matt, was exactly the kind of person you want to serve you at a restaurant. Knowledgeable of the menu and eager to provide great service. On to the food, starting with the coffee -- only French pressed will do, right? -- my wife and I ordered two house specialties, chicken and waffles, and Cajun benedict. It just doesn't get better. We live some six hours away from what we consider one of the finest and absolute tastiest breakfasts we've ever had, otherwise The French Press would be a regular stop on our list of favorite eating spots.
