Nothing fancy, just a very relaxed and causal eating experience. (eat in or takeout) The atmosphere is laid back and definitely has a college town feeling. There are an equal number from the business community and well as students from ULL (University of Louisiana Lafayette) that enjoy the good selection of poboys. I seem to lean to the shrimp but the Olde Tyme Special of ham, turkey roast beef and cheese is very good. You should not walk away hungry and the flavor is cajun. Many locales enjoy (always a good indication you will like).

eaten there at least a million times and they are certainly one of the best poboy shops in town, but with a little more effort they could be spectacular. They do good with fried seafood poboys if they change the grease often enough and they have giant salads with whatever sandwich meat you want on it. Always busy and they really hustle the food out, i feel for the workers sometimes!

We had the shrimp poboy on our cajun food tour from the location in Broussard, BJ's Olde Tyme Grocery! It was fabulous! Everyone loved it. Will definitely go there for lunch.

Nothing fancy, but the best shrimp poor-boy I have ever eaten. So full of fried shrimp, I had to keep adding them back to my sandwich. If you are looking for a great poor-boy, this is the place.
