“Where the locals eat!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

Great stop before you fly out of MSY! We had a flight right after lunch, good thing we came early! Expect the place to be packed and expect the food to be amazing! If it's fried, eat it! This is a great "no frills" Louisiana special.

“Excellent seafood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

While visiting New Orleans I ate at the Harbor Seafood restaurant on several occasions. One thing I discovered in NO was the portions served at restaurants were more than generous, huge in fact. HS is no exception and the food is excellent.
If you like crawdads this is a great place. The platter is enough for a family of four, seriously. It is huge.
I had the catfish on one visit and it was typically old south delicious.

“No frills-local diggs”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

We Had an overnighter in New Orleans and we wanted some fresh oysters and crawfish at a good price. I went on tripadvisor and looked for places to go near the airport. This place drew us both to it because we love to eat where the locals eat. We were not disappointed! It is a narrow dining area with simplistic chairs and tables. There was a small group of patrons outside waiting for a table and some of them ventured over to the adjoining fish market they also operate. We chose to weave over to the small but active bar. We secured some chairs and immediately ordered some fresh oysters. They were freshly shucked and salty! Some were a little big for out tastes but that is just our preference. The crawfish and shrimp are sold by the pound and we bought three pounds of crawfish. The crawfish were (smaller due to late season expectations) a wee bit salty and seasoned well. The corn was sweet and spicy just like it should be! We also ordered some fried calamari. The calamari wasn't very plump and the rings were cut too thin to have more flavor than the batter. I will note that the oil was very fresh and tasted like it was fresh canola oil. The bartenders were too busy to chat much, but always answered any guest questions or quickly kept the cold beers and orders flowing. The whole place was buzzing and everyone seemed pleased with their meals! We arrived @7pm on a Thursday evening and the flow of the restaurant was very efficient. The staff were constantly buzzing throughout the dining room and seemed to help each other out with refills and removing plates from any table in need. I would recommend this local dig if you want fresh seafood in a no frills setting that has a sound reputation in a city that takes its seafood seriously! Generally, if you go to New Orleans for crawfish after June, they will tend to get smaller. The ones we had were a pretty good mix and even though several were smaller, they were still plump and juicy. We are trying to stray away from fried foods but could not resist the calamari (also offered blackened style) the fact that the oil was so light and fresh, we felt like we could have confidently ordered some fried, oysters or shrimp and not have felt bogged down with oily, and heavy breading! This is a Must-go restaurant if you are in town for a while or want to keep close to the airport. It's less that 2miles away and an easy drive.....

“As consistent as momma's home cooking”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

One of the greats that I always visit when I'm in town. Pick anything on the menu and you can count on a tasty meal. The only problem is that it is ALWAYS busy, even 2pm on a Sunday. The wait and bar staff can sometimes get overwhelmed and not be as thorough cleaning up after the previous patron as I'd like.
