My flight got delayed and I was starving. I am from the MS Gulf Coast and now live in CA so, I knew that the price comparison of what I am used to paying on a regular basis at restaurants in CA. I was actually surprised that the prices were less! The varieties of appetizers, entree's, deserts, liquors and wine were really nice for an airport restaurant which usually have limited items. It was definitly good southern, cajeon creole style food that I was craving. I was wanting a combo po-boy with shrimp as well as oysters. The waitress said that they usually do only one or the other. She went to the chef of the day and they were able to accommodate my order with a small fee added to the sandwich which was no problem. The french bread was crunchy on the outside and nice and chewy on the inside. The seafood was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The lettuce, tomato and pickles were very fresh and tasty and the fries were out of this world. The portion size was huge and ended up having to take half of it with me on the plane for later. As I sat eating, watching the big screen TV and sipping my yummy Pinot Grigio, I also was able to see the other dishes coming out of the kitchen. I could hear the comments from diners around me and they were all positive. "Delicious", "out of this world", and "we will definitely come here again when we come back" were just a few. All of the wait staff had big smiles on their faces and very friendly to the customers as well with each other. My waitress, "Daylann," (who said I could use her name) went out of her way to help her customers and give them a great experience. I could see that orders were being taken almost as soon as they were seated and their food arriving shortly thereafter. There is also a very nice bar in the restaurant if you prefer to be seated there. There was a nice display of liquors, liqueurs and wines as well as beer by the bottle or on tap. The bar tenders were talking with the customers and all were having a good time. I was very impressed and can't wait when I return to visit and have the chance to eat here again! It is outside of security so, if you are close to the airport and want a good meal, this is the place. There is also one in New Orleans that has been open since 1941.
