Just returned from a business trip to the New Orleans area. Read some of the good reviews on here and thought I'd give a local hotel a try. When I arrived, I was VERY WARMLY greeted by Pat at the front desk. She was professional, courteous and noticed my preference for a Lake view room. While I had already been assigned a room, she checked availability, and changed my room. The check-process was quick and painless.
The lobby area looked clean and well maintained. My room was nice, clean and well appointed. Other than the droan of the air conditioner, which is standard for that type of equipment, all was well-including my view.
I returned later that evening and noticed I had no hot water. I called down to the front desk to report the problem. The clerk said she would have it looked at immediately. So, I decided to hold off on my shower until the morning, and went to bed. Imagine my surprise when I awoke the next morning to NO HOT WATER. I called down to the front desk to inquire. The clerk said "we don't know what's wrong. we have to keep on resetting the boiler every 30 minutes or so." So, I took a shower in cool (thank God for the heat in New Orleans) not cold water... not happy..
The included breakfast was standard fair. Well prepared and area kept stocked and clean. The restaurant staff were courteous and friendly. When I checked out, the clerk asked how I enjoyed my stay. I remarked it was fine, except for the "no hot water".... She looked puzzled and then gave me a very flippant "oh, sorry"....as if she had no idea what I was talking about, nor cared. REALLY? It's funny how one persons attitude can change your whole perspective of a place.
I'm not saying I might not stay here again. But a facility that doesn't have staff to work on a significant problem like hot water, when given over 12 hours notice of a problem does concern me. And the front desk clerk should have had a little more empathy than she did if this hotel wants to keep business. I travel to New Orleans frequently and have a whole array of places to stay. I was hoping I had found a diamond.... Guess it's still kinda in the "rough"....
