“Shame On The Food Network.”
Reviewed January 28, 2012

Food Network lost some cred with me on this place. After seeing Guy's DDD segment, we raced over to try this place we had not heard of. REALLY??? With all the places in this area, this is what you choose to praise as "off the hook"? Hello Guy? Your line is on the hook and nobody's home. Awful service and low quality food. It isn't a diner, certainly not a drive in but it is a dive!!!

“Crowd seemed happy(and upscale for a shack)”
Reviewed October 18, 2011

Last stop before airport. fried combo app platter looked too good to resist. Green toms a little slimy, mushrooms, sweet taters, pickles great(except all were brined). Maybe stop again on the way from the airport someday...

“Great local flavor - fun cajun experience, with a band!”
Reviewed July 20, 2011

Went with colleagues for dinner on a business trip. Some of the best red beans & rice I have ever eaten - and the sasuage was yummy too. Delicious meat pies. All around good - and an awesome cajun duo band to provide the ambiance. Service was eh-- they only had one waitress for ALL the tables in the place, so she was in the weeds. Our appetizers didn't come till after the meal because she forgot to put them in--but she was alone, it wasn't to blame on her.

“Trashy looking from the outside, but great food!!!!!!”
Reviewed July 1, 2011

We had been told that the River Shack Tavern was a good place to eat lunch. So, we went there on our next trip to New Orleans.

From the outside it looks like an old barn or an old store building - sorta' trashy looking. Inside - well, let's just say it has character with all the signs and memorabilia hanging on its walls..

You will see everything from the coat and tie crowd, to the medical staff at nearby clinics, to city street work crews eating in here, and every thing in between. Great food and you can take the family here too.

Only complaint is the men's restroom. Clean, but not a lot of privacy in there if you get my drift. River Shack Tavern needs to work on that.

Again,a neat place to get a good meal at a reasonable price. They have a full service bar.
