We originally booked the Marriot in Houma as we knew the Quality Hotel was old and a couple of the reviews were negative. One indicated to stay at the newer hotels on Martin Luther Drive. A couple weeks later after reading the Marriot reviews and again going over the Quality reviews we decided to go with the Tripadvisor recommendation as they have always been accurate, and cancel the Marriot, as it was twice the price and did not include a hot breakfast, and book the Quality Hotel. It turned out to be a great decision as the bed was exceptionally comfortable as was the hot breakfast. The sausage, eggs and especially the hash brown were great. Also on the buffet were grits, blueberry muffins, bisquits, gravy and yogurt. Both my wife and her sister went back for seconds, which they rarely do.
Although the carpet was dated and the airconditioner was a little loud(it cooled great) the friendly staff, comfortable bed, great breakfast and terrific rate more than offset these issues. Also the pillows are small so I would suggest bringing your own. We brought one but I also used the small pillows and had no trouble sleeping on them.
The tripadvisor suggestions for things to do and restaurants also were fantastic, i.e. The Joint in New Orleans, Song Phi Nong Thai and the Southdown Museum.
