“Good representation”
Reviewed April 2, 2012

This is a good representation of Acadian culture. Small museum and a neat building on the bayou.

Would be neat if city could absorb the fee for tourists, but it is not expensive and kids enjoyed it.

“A great display of the history of South Louisiana's bayou country and its people”
Reviewed December 8, 2008

This is a great little museum that is located right downtown (there is a paved walking bridge connecting to the other side of the waterway where the shops and restaurants/cafe's are located). The museum is not very big but covers this part of Cajun country quite well. It was very interesting to learn about the area's natural resources, industry, wildlife, and people. You learn about the seafood industry, sugarcane, fur trapping, swamp logging, oil and gas exploration, cajun culture and history, Native Americans, plantation life, hurricanes and more. There is also follow-along info designed just for kids. Plenty of parking. Admission was just $3 per adult. The museum looks new and the staff was very friendly. We would certainly recommend a visit.
