They offer a number of options, we did the 20 bucks 1,5 hours organized swamp tour. The guide was very friendly and a real cajun... very knowledgable and a good host. We saw everything we wanted to see and it was a good experience.
Service at the reataurant was a bit slow and the portion sizes smaller than expected, but the menu had a lot of variety and offered all local favourites.

Our tour group of 30 had a delicious lunch and then a guided bayou tour by an amazing
man-Captain Curtis. His sons own the establishment and were so appreciative of our visit as was he. He made the boat ride so much fun-wonderful repoire, very witty guy who knew the area so well. He "worked" real hard for us to see an alligator since it was a little early in the season to do so but we did! A great value for your money both the meal and the ride. I highly recommend McGee's and will plan to visit them again.

My husband was insistent on taking an airboat ride. We were initially happy to find one that will only charge you 50 bucks a person...well, that is...IF you can find at least 2 other people who will share the apparent 200.00 cost. Since we were able to schedule a Saturday ride, sharing the cost with 2 others...we were happy. However, after only 30 minutes into our ride, the airboat was shut off while the tour guide lit up a cigarette, and between puffs told us a bit of history. The ashes were landing on the shoulder of my coat as he puffed away. Another 20-30 minutes later, another smoke break...ashes flying over my face...and another 20-30 minutes later...well, you get the picture. I mentioned to my husband that I never say life jackets nor was advised as to what were supposed to do other then, "If you fall over/off the boat...find the nearest tree stump." If you are going to do an airboat ride, I would wait and go to the Florida Everglades...where you are actually on a swamp...not a lake that is part of the basin.

I'm sorry to hear about your poor experience at McGee's back in 2013. We are new owners and don't allow our tour guides to smoke during their tours.

Though we value your review of the tour and your experience, we would appreciate being able to start with a more positive outlook as new owners... especially since we don't tolerate the behavior that you mentioned. Any consideration to removing your review or revising it would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day!

We took this tour inorder to see the cypress swamp and were not dissapointed. Because the weather as on the cool side, we did not see a lot of birds and animals. It was a bit early to tour the swamp if wildlife is your goal. However, the cypress forest was great. Our guide, James, was native born and very knowledgeable about the Atchafalaya. The stories he told about the swamp made you thankfui that you didn't rent a boat and try to navigate the region by yourself for once you are in the heart of the cypress forest, north-south-east-west looks identical and its hard not to get lost. A BEAUTIFUL REGION OF THE COUNTRY

There are so many tours of Louisiana swamps, bayous, and lakes that it can be difficult to choose among them--especially if time and finances are limited.

The boat tours offered by McGee's Landing are well worth the modest fee: $20/person for a 1.5 to 2 hour glide through the Atchafalaya Basin both south and north of Interstate Highway 10.

Depending on the season, the tour can be very relaxing focusing on trees and other vegetation or filled with various native (and non-native) animal and bird sightings. At the end of January 2013, although the weather was in the mid 70's and the air quality heart breakingly crystal clear and intense, most of the wildlife were either in hibernation or elsewhere and the birds have yet to start their migrations (except for the cormorants and egrets--they are always in sight in Louisiana along the swamps and bayous).

There is also the opportunity for air boat rides-- those are pricier at $50/person with a $150 minimum.
