Really enjoyable tour, more of river and lake area rather than a swamp tour. Our guide was a real character and very knowledgeable. Saw a couple of Gators!

“A wonderfully lazy day on the Basin. . .”
Reviewed April 10, 2012

We had a wonderful time on this tour. It is a great way to tour the Atchafalaya Basin. Our tour guide was wonderful, sometimes hard to understand. But that added to the experience! He was a true Cajun! We had a French couple on our tour as well so we got the chance to hear our guide in "Cajun" English & French! It was a great experience! We seen a few huge gators, lots of birds & lots of wonders of the basin. Even got to meet a crawfish trapper while out on the basin. We arrived early so we got to sit on the porch with some locals that hang out there. These guys were great & welcomed us as part of the family. After the tour we ate at the cafe on site. Very good food & great prices. We had gator po-boy & gator taters (french fries shaped as gators). I suggest you do this tour on the last day of your vacation so you can kick back, relax & unwind from all the crazy stuff that can be found in Louisiana. . .

“A peaceful view of the swamp.”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

Their airboat tour was amazing. Expect to sail at a fast pace over the water, logs and vegetation! Don't forget a wind breaker and also have a bloody mary in the restaurant before heading out!

“Very nice tour operator but didn't deliver a true bayou experience”
Reviewed February 8, 2012

My son was really keen to see the real bayou in Cajun country so we booked in for a bayou tour at Mcgee's. The tour operator was a very pleasant and informative man and he was, in fact, the best part of the tour. We were fortunate that there was a good amount of water in the basin when we visited, as apparently sometimes the water is low. The actual boat trip basically went in a circle around the large lake area of the bayou near McGee's, passsing under the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge twice and generally just passing by a lot of swamp Cypresses on the way. We saw a few small hunting and fishing shacks floating in the water and saw a few birds. We did not see any alligators even though the operator visited the spots that he know alligators frequent (and leave fish for them to eat and lure them back for the sightseers). Unfortunately we did not go down any of the smaller contributaries and get a real feel for the bayou. It felt a little like a Disneyland inspired attempt to create a bayou experience without actually getting into the bayou! I would not recommend this to anyone else, but having said that, I would not discourage others who want to see the bayou and have no other way of seeing it from taking this tour. it was certainly not what we expected or hoped for but was not an unpleasant experience just the same.

“Where's the swamp?”
Reviewed January 29, 2012

We drove from Baton Rouge to McGee's Landing. Drove by the turn off about three times because there is only a small sign which tells you where to turn. Got on the boat with about 10 other guests. The old dude steering the boat was funny and told some stories which somewhat kept the interest. Basically this is a river tour and nothing to write home about.
