“Nice staff and affordable”
Reviewed May 9, 2011

I didn't know much about New Orleans and its neighborhoods, so I was a little wary. We came for a concert in the French Quarter and the hotels there were triple the price of this one and we simply couldn't afford it. We trusted the last few reviews and were not disappointed. It is easy on/off the freeway and we were in the French Quarter in less than 5 minutes. The staff was super friendly. It is an older hotel with no frills at all. But the rooms were clean, the linens smelled clean and fresh, and it had nice furniture and a nice TV. We found the king-sized bed very comfortable. There was only one small bar of soap provided so you may want to bring your own. But all in all, we were very happy to get a safe, clean room close to the FQ at a fraction of the cost.

Stayed for one week. Free unlimited internet access. Easy bus connection to downtown and convention area (JET bus/ W2, check online for time table). Very pleasant service. The pool areas (2) are very nice. Shopping malls (Manhattan Plaza) close by, within walking distance. The neighbourhood feels pretty safe. The free continental breakfast consists of toast, jam, frosted flakes, raisin bran, milk, coffee, tea and juice. That's it, but if you like, check out the connected restaurant. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Try the 'taste of New Orleans'. Very good! if I have cause to go to NO again I will stay here again!

This Hotel really improved from past reviews. Checked in with front desks with ease and you have access to computer in the lobby which there was never a wait. The rooms were average, frig, microwave cable with many channels. I stayed there during Mardi Gras so the temperature was cold at night and warm during the day and air condition worked perfect for both climates with very little noise. The hotel is located close to near by restaurants and small store right next door for your needs. The hotel is about 10 miles from the french quarter so if you don't have a vehicle you will have to cab it and during Mardi Gras cab prices increased and trying to catch a cab back to the hotel from Bourbon street was a nightmare because a lot of cabs did not want to travel back over the bridge and lose out on fares locally and when we did find one they charged an arm and a leg. Hopefully this was just during Mardi Gras time so due to that first night we just rented a vehicle and it was cheaper then the cab ride back and fourth. Other than that I would stay here again.

When we got there they allowed us to check in early and the lady at the desk was very nice and helpful. The room seemed as if it was recently renovated and was clean and cosy, although the pool was closed the grounds of the inside of the hotel was very nice. My only thing was the resturant was under renovations, but it seemed like they were doing alot of work on the hotel. For the price it was very nice, would definately return if I was in the New Orleans area.

I read terrible reviews about this hotel after I booked it and I was scared to death to stay there. When we arrived the desk clerk was very nice. We told her of our fears and she said "not to worry." She gave us a very nice, clean room, updated bathrooms and we were very pleased. We also had a very good continental breakfast every morning, and chatted with the manager who was very accomodating. Everything that you read is not always true. Our 3 day stay at the Travelodge, New Orleans West Harvey was very pleasant and I would stay there again without hesitation.

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel! A group of us (4 females) went down to New orleans for the Essence music festival, of course the prices and availabilities of all the area hotels were double the normal price and booked up so we got stuck at this location. The staff at this hotel is very unprofessional, knows nothing about customer service and service recovery, when we got to our room one of our pillow cases had dirt markings all over it and the worst of it all was that our side table had some sort of insect droppings on it!!! We called the front desk to notify them and thier response was for us to come down and get a new pillow case to change it ourselves!!! Needless to say the manager was already gone for the evening and no one felt the need to come up and take a look at the poop! We then drove to walmart, got our own cleaning supplies and cleaned the entire room that night before bed as we did not have the option to change rooms! The following morning we had a long discussion with the manager about issues with the cost of the room as well as the cleanliness, when we reserved the through the 1-800 # we got a lower price rate but when we got to the hotel we were given a $20 increase in the rate of the room charge as "everyone goes up in prices around this time" per front desk clerk which then argued that our previously quoted rate "was not showing up in their system" and the manager was no help either because he did nothing about either ! We filed a complaint with the travelodge headquaters as well as left our nasty comment cards and tips for improvement on their comment feedback cards! This hotel experience made our entire trip a bad experience and have a considering never going back to new orleans again!

I normally never post a comment about hotels I visit but this is an exception. I never have been to such an unprofessional place before in my life. The staff was very unprofessional. The front desk clerk uniform was dirty and nasty all four days we stayed. Obvious never changed it. We changed room twice in two days. The first room had hair in the sheets and soap and shampoo baskets and mold in the shower curtains it was just nasty. We notify the first desk clerk and house keeper that was at 9 am. When we return to our room at 8:30 pm nothing was done about the problem. So I asked to changed rooms. I notice people sitting in lawn chairs in the parking lot barbequing. The room they assigned to us had no working AC we didn’t realize that until we were getting ready for bed that was the worst night I ever had. When I went to the front desk to complain she said oh that room AC doesn’t work no joke I wish they we have passed that information to everyone Including us. The third room was some what better that the previous two. The whole hotel was just nasty. I wish we had not have booked our room online. They had a special and discount rate you get what you pay for. Never stay at the Travelodge West Bank New Orleans.
