“Tuesday Night Bargain”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

Not sure if I would call it French but more Cajun. Nice selection of food items and wines by the bottle if not so much by the glass. Tuesday night is lunch for dinner with lunch prices on dinner items and $10 BOTTLES of house (Salmon Creek yuk) wine. Service was top notch. As a business traveler it was a nice combination of hospitality and locals. Good find.

“Great service and a perfect location for a date night.”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

We started with the Porcupine Potato Hushpuppies. While the hushpuppies were very good, I would LOVE to take a large container of the hot pepper jelly home. Both my wife and I agree that it was delicious.
If you like Filet Mignon, you have to try the Tournedos Bayou Lafourche. words cannot do it justice. My wife actually got the Tuna Tataki appetizer as her main course and enjoyed it. Even if you have to get a to-go box, you have to save room for dessert! We each have our favorites. I can't get enough of their White Chocolate Bread Pudding with Bananas Foster Sauce while she prefers the Lemon Creme Brulee Cheesecake. Afterwards, we enjoyed coffee and listened to the singer/guitarist. It wasn't too loud to carry on a conversation. Overall, a nice romantic date night spent with my wife.

“Hidden gem!”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

I have lived near Hammond most of my life and never tried Tope La! It was amazing! The cajun tenderloin sprinkled with hot pepper jelly was delicious, as was the twist on your typical spinach & artichoke dip (called Bayou Dip)...great atmosphere, it can be fun or romantic, and the service was perfect. Highly recommended.

“an elegant, relaxing meal”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

If you're looking for an elegant, relaxing meal in Hammond, this is the place to go. The interior is very handsome, the staff is very accommodating, the atmosphere is very relaxing, the menu is seductive, and the food is sensuous. Lighting is sedate, music plays lightly over the speaker system, and interior landscaping softens surfaces and sounds. Service is good.

The crabcake appetizer was good, and the tuna tataki was even better - great presentation as well as flavor combinations and serving size. Side salads were surprisingly good - dressings are all made in-house, and the caesar was so memorable its concerto of flavors still lingers. Ask you waiter about the specials of the day, they are likely to include special species of fresh fish - such as speckle trout, redfish, pompano, and cobia. Our broiled redfish and pecan-crusted tilapia were both delicious, each in its own way. Side dishes of dirty rice and mashed potatoes were good too. Desserts are also made in-house - with the bread pudding being judged a tad better that the cheesecake - and coffee or espresso top off a wonderful, satisfying, memorable meal.

“Pleasant surprise, great food, good portions.”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

Decided to eat here when we spent the night in Hammond. It was a perfect choice. The food, service was excellent. My husband had the lasagna - something i never cook - and was very pleased with the portion and the taste. He thought is was one of the best lasagnas he had ever eaten. I had the special cut prime rib. The mashed potatoes were Excellent - and i rarely eat mashed potatoes. I ate ALL of them and there were alot. The prime rib was 2 pieces, would have preferred one thick piece instead. Prices was quite reasonable. We would go there again.
Decor was nothing special.
