Just finished eating here. Stopped here on our way from Destin to Houston. Worth the short drive off our route! Food is very tasty. Crawfish Étouffée is among the best we've ever eaten! Fried catfish and shrimp were delicious, not greasy. Service is very customer oriented.

Added bread pudding (outstanding) and turtle cheesecake (Devine - moist, not dry)!

We visited this restaurant on a Thursday night. The wait staff was very friendly. They had a special of the night, steak and potato for $12.99. My son and I shared a seafood platter which was $20. It was more than enough food for the two of us. Everything that we ordered was prepared correctly and was very tasty. I would go again.

Murphy's has been producing good fried seafood in Hammond since the 1960s. Catfish, oysters, shrimp and soft shell crabs (when available) are all quite tasty. Onion rings are always a good side order. While the restaurant has been in the same location for many years, the interior was totally redone (I think due to some extensive water damage) not too many years ago. While the new incarnation is certainly quite clean if somewhat sterile, it unfortunately lacks the cozy fish house vibe that it used to have. But ... Murphy's still cranks out reliably good seafood on every visit, so that has not changed a bit.

Dined here with family on a Saturday, and we were all very pleased. The portions are generous and well-prepared. The salad bar, while not very fancy, is well-stocked with very fresh items and appears to feature home-made dressings.
Our waitress, Tori, was absolutely spectacular! She knew the menu items well, was very friendly and accommodating, and even found the time to keep my 6-year-old nephew entertained.
The place is very casual, but the food was certainly worth the visit.
