Well worth a couple of hours if you are in the neighborhood. Gibsland and the surrounding area still have a "Great Depression" feel about it.

“Awesome Place to Visit”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

We made a detour to visit the Bonnie and Clyde Ambush Museum on the way back to Georgia from a weekend visit to Texas. It was a fascinating visit and I enjoyed chatting with Boots Hinton. The book was an easy and fun read. It was well worth the short detour. Someone else has already said this is exactly the kind of place that makes road trips fun and enjoyable!

“Great history stop.”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Great history museum about Bonnie and Clyde. What made this stop so great was Boots stories, the owner of the museum. He is very informative about the ambush of Bonnie and Clyde. Also, you need to watch the DVD that Boots will play about the day Bonnie and Clyde died.

“A Bloody Day in May 1934”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

A time in America's history is shown in this neat little museum in Gibsland, LA. The curator, Mr. Boots Hinton has a strong connection to the museum and is a wealth of information. He was so informed and was able to answer my many questions. And he should know a great deal about the whole story because his father was one of the Texas lawmen that hunted the pair down and participated in the shoot out. The museum is in the building that housed the restaurant where Bonnie and Clyde purchased their last meal. Seven or eight miles south is the actually spot where the ambush actually took place identified by a concrete marker. The marker is being slowly chipped away by souvenir seekers. Eight miles east of the museum is the town of Arcadia. This is the town where the car with their bodies still in it was towed to the local funeral home. This town has several good restaurants and antique shops. We made a day of it and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would recommend any one interested in this time period of small town America to make a stop here.

“Not for kids”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

It was ok. Nothing to go out of your way for but if you are driving by... It is only about a mile off of I-20, so that is good. Not really worth what they are charging to get in. You get to watch a movie made by the guy who runs the place then the rest of it is just replicas of pictures. There is a LOT of typed up text that sums up who they were/what happened. It was ok for me but if you have kids, this would not keep their interest
