Hubby and I stayed at the Fairfax House in the lovely town of Franklin, La for 2 days between Christmas and New Year's. It is a gorgeous Plantation Home with 6 very large rooms/suites with private bathrooms. When we arrived, Jennette the bookkeeper was there to welcome us and show us to our room. We were the only ones staying at the House for those two days, so could have chosen any one of the 6 rooms, but we were very satisfied with our original choice, The Magnolia Suite. The suite was bright and cheerful, the bed very comfortable, and no detail was overlooked. This B&B is lovingly cared for and has been faithfully restored to it's glory days. It was also beautifully decorated for Christmas. I spent quite a bit of time enjoying the rocking chairs on the front porch and soaking up the sun on the back patio. Breakfasts were substantial and very good. I'm now a grits convert thanks to the cook at the Fairfax House. I would highly recommend this B&B and the peaceful town of Franklin. It's close to the Atachafalaya Golf course in nearby Patterson, which has a good restaurant and great golf.

Room Tip: 4 of the rooms with sitting areas are very large - 2 on the main floor and 2 on the second floor. 2...

We had a wonderful stay at the Fairfax House in Franklin, La. Franklin is a beautiful little historic town on the bayou. It has a few little shops and restaurants within walking distance of the house. There are several area golf courses nearby. A casino is also near which has several really good restaurants. The grounds of the house are beautiful and include the remains of an old one-lane cement bowling lane. This is a place for a quiet and peaceful retreat from a busy world. Cheryl Kemper is the best hostess. She will take care of your every need.

I cannot understand why this place hasn't any reviews - it is one the nicest places we have ever stayed - and we've travelled the world! A beautiful plantation house with 6 rooms all furnished with antiques and with individual styles, but all comfortable and cosy. But that is just the beginning. The Innkeeper Cheryl, opened the door and welcomed us like old friends, even though we arrived on the back of a Harley and looked terrible! She brought us in, let us select our room as we were the only occupants, and showed us the bar where we were told to help ourselves to a cocktail and snacks. It was like staying in a wonderful private home. As it is only B&B Cheryl recommended somewhere for dinner and we decided to walk there, not realizing it was 2.3 miles away! When we got there the locals dining there were amazed that we had walked so far and promised to get us home, but Cheryl soon heard about us and came to get us!! The next morning she cooked us a great plantation breakfast and we reluctantly left on our road trip. But this B&B was the highlight of the trip, not only because it was such a beautiful place but also because of the inn keeper and the town of Franklin. I would recommend in a heart beat.
