My girlfriend and I just completed the hang en 2 day 1 night cave tour and trek. We have so many amazing things to say about this so we'll try and keep it concise. In short, go on this trip!
The guides and team were truly amazing on this trip, particularly since the trip was fully booked. Full of knowledge and passion for their country, caves and national park. We learnt all sorts on this trip and the guides were very personable, it was sad to say goodbye. Vic was particularly great.
A huge choice of food for lunch in the jungle. Make your own rolls and banh mi! The dinner was astounding, considering it was cooked in a cave! One of the most enjoyable and filling meals of our trip! They catered for all tastes and preferences.
Not as difficult as expected, however the climb back at the end was a bit of a push, but the reward of beer at the end pushed us on. The changing scenery was astounding and tour guides always filled us in on fauna and flora. Your shoes and trousers do get wet, lots, but that's part of the experience! We were always hydrated, by water from rivers, always taken from the fasted flowing parts and filtered, no problems there. Tasted pretty good too.
Amazing, the cave speaks for itself. Reinforced by the undeniable knowledge of the oxalis guides. Always happy to help and take photos of us whilst keeping us informed. Fossil hunting along the underground river was particularly fun. The cave really blew us away, it was stunning!
Hats off to the porters who go ahead with your evening clothes and set up all the tents and communal areas. Camping was a good experience and I was pleasantly stunned to see actual toilet seats to sit on! Only real surprise was the presence of rats near the campsite tents in the cave, but they quickly scurry away when you shine your lights, be aware if you have rodent fears.
Overall this was an amazing experience and our fondest memory from our holiday in Vietnam. This really feels like an experience of a lifetime and one we'll never forget. If we return to the country we will most definitely be booking another cave tour with Oxalis!
