Travelling with our daughter, under 5yrs on both occasions in Oct & April, this resort has everything and more that you would expect from a beautiful location like the Maldives and suits both couples or families comfortably, without getting in each others way. The resort pics are not photoshopped, it really is that beautiful!
SERVICE: Staff and service were exceptional from the moment we arrived at the airport to our welcoming on the jetty, through to our regretful departure. Every staff member you pass, warmly acknowledge you without being annoying at anytime. Nothing is too much trouble. They have a menu for pillows and soap to choose from!!
FOOD: On our first stay, we ate in our room each night due to having a child who needed to sleep early but also because the quality of the room service food was excellent. I don't think I could say that about any other hotel I have stayed in. This was one of the main influences in going back to Anatara for our second trip. I didn't want to be disappointed with bad food and have to pay up for it. The children's menu offered the usual along with plenty of healthy & appealing meals that were very reasonable. This actually made our departure bill very reasonable. Our second stay we chose to eat out on several nights and for the 3 of us, entree, main and sharing of dessert and 2-4 glasses of wine, our bill was around $250-$300 as opposed to say $60-$70 for room service. Given the quality of the food, I didn't think this was unreasonable at all. The view is amazing, overlooking the sunset, turquoise water with fish and reef sharks swimming by! Buffet breakfast is fantastic and I now have to get back to the gym to work it all off! Glad to see the buffet is now within a glass enclosure and air conditioned as this wasn't the case on our first stay. Good idea! Lunch by the pool was also without fault.
KIDS CLUB: Thank you to the lovely Priscilla! As much as I'm not a huge fan of 'kids clubs' they need a rest from the heat and humidity and my daughter absolutely loved her time spent there. It's a great facility with a variety of activities. I felt very comfortable that she was safe and secure. We had a room just opposite the club which was ideal. The children's welcome back pack was very much appreciated too.
ACCOM: Sunrise villa for us on both visits. Perfect for families and probably more 'sun friendly' for children as they can play in the afternoon with a little more shade. Regardless you still see the beautiful sunsets over the palm trees. Large, spacious rooms with super king size bed (although it was a little hard for us!) and well set up for our daughter. Outdoor bathroom is amazing, we all loved it!
AQUAFANATICS: Great set up, diving, glass bottom canoes, jet skis, snorkelling, SUP (which I tried for the first time! Beginners, do this when it's calm and not windy and don't try and paddle under the Water Villa bridge!) It's not cheap but where is it cheap?! If you are going to do this type of activity, this is the perfect place to try it. Staff were very helpful and very competent. My husband, an advanced diver, enjoyed his days on the reef. If you don't want to spend on this type of activity, take your snorkel and flippers and walk out your front door and explore the small coral reefs right in front of your villa.
It's humid and don't underestimate the heat, it can really knock you around if you don't stay hydrated and take a break from the sun/beach/pool. First trip I spent a full day vomiting and in bed with heat stroke.
Take your camera and head out to the over water hammock! You won't get a better pic than this to post on your facebook page!
Crab hunting & gecko spotting at night was great fun for children.
Grab a fresh coconut from Xavier in the afternoons as he makes his way around the island each day.
Thanks to everyone! We had a fantastic time and I hope we'll be back for a 3rd visit!
