“Not 5 star yet but trying hard!”
Reviewed December 22, 2013

We had 3 nights in a sunset overwater bungalow but unfortunately never experienced the sunset (nobody's fault!) Arrival and transfer from the airport went very smooth and great service by the staff. Housekeeping had a a few hitches with at one occasion no bath towels and other small things. The towel folding demonstration was great fun and a good 'tip' earner! We took the ferry to the other island to have lunch at the Japanese restaurant but it was closed without any notifications anywhere. Management cocktail party was fun with the various demonstrations and management staff mixing with guests. We also did the snorkelling and island trip. Again staff was very good and as we had some time left over we were taking on an extended tour along other islands. Although it was interesting to walk around an inhabited island there was not much too see and locals weren't very friendly. t did show us though the difference between a ' backpacker island' and a $1000 a night resort island! Breakfast was excellent with an enormous selection and a chef who was (she) very keen to help.

Dear MaffieAustralia,

It is a true pleasure to read your review and to know that you embraced so many of experiences that we offer our guests.

Your valuable feedback has already been passed on to our Housekeeping Manager to make sure, the rooms setup remains properly and conscientious. Like you know, we are cleaning the rooms twice per day, as the comfort of our guests is the most important element of our service provided.

Snorkeling on the Maldives is a ‘must do’ as the underwater world is amazing. Great to see, that you did not miss out this breathtaking experience.

During our weekly Guest Cocktail we receive a lot of positive comments about the different watersport activities, such as diving, snorkeling, jet ski, parasailing and many other’s.

All of us are truly appreciative of your comments and your positive recommendation of our resort. We would be delighted to have the privilege of welcoming you back to our resort, and do hope you will visit us again soon.

Best regards from the Maldives,

We have just came back from a seven day stay at Dhigu and it was a wonderful and relaxing one.
Anantara Dhigu started for us the moment we got off from our boat and on to the welcome jetty.

Anantara has the most wonderful Sunset villas we were in Villa 61. The view of sunset was superb and the villa was well hidden from the beach for complete privacy.

Breakfast is good my children loved Shankar's pancakes and waffels and the best restaurant for dinner is Fuddon, their chocolate souffle is to die for. However service is slow in that as well as Terrazo restaurant this is because the Chef is busy like hell they simply cant keep up with the number of orders so except a wait but we didn't mind as the view is spectacular!

The Aquafanatic their water sport center has everything they have snorkel, dive, jet ski, para sailing, gliding, fishing..... and the list go on.The staff is well trained and guide you superbly. So do make a note in going there you will enjoy! Fishing is superb! we went twice and caught fish twice they can cook it for you just the way you like it!!

I went for the Spa and had the visible brilliance facial ! it was superb SPA very professional and soothing!

Anantara is partly wonderful because of it's wonderful staff, I want to mention the considerate Patrick in the management. The warm and wonderful Geness in Fushi Cafe who took care of us in breafast and the superb Auaf and his colleague ( whose name I forgot) in Aqua fanatic who took care of us in snorkeling as our 6 year old suddenly develop the fear of ocean.

All in all you should go! It is a wonderful resort with lovely and warm people.... it a splendid combination of luxury, seclusion and water sport activity!

Room Tip: Go for room 61 it has the wonderful sunset and superbly secluded from beach with the help of plant...

Dear Aniqa S,

Great to read such a review!

Thank you very much for your comment, which really means a lot to us! One of the pleasure and luxury on the Maldives is that you can enjoy doing........nothing…and feel good about it!

Our live-cooking stations around the breakfast buffet are very popular, especially for the kids. We have well noted your comment about the service in the restaurant and we are currently reviewing our operations with our food & beverage team members to reduce waiting times for the guests during peak periods.

Aquafanatics, our watersport center, operates with great, well-trained staff and offers a wide range of activities.

The voice of our guest is extremely valuable to us and serves as tool to implement improvements and enhancements throughout the resort and our service culture.

Thank you once again for your lovely words! All of us are looking forward to welcome you soon again!

Warmest regards to Pakistan,

My husband and stayed in the over water villas for our 25th wedding anniversary. The place is absolutely as is the staff, they cannot do enough for you. We were made to feel like we were the only people on the island. Dinner for two on the beach with our own personal chef, room decorated for our anniversary, welcome drinks ...the villas were spacious and well equipped. It really is paradise from the beautiful weather, pristine warm water, beautiful coral reefs and fish and the magnificent staff. We got to experience the spa facilities with a two and a half hour massage overlooking the Indian Ocean only to be taken to the outside jacuzzis upon completion of our massages to watch the sunset over the ocean, absolutely breathtaking. No matter how many photos we took they could never do the Maldives the justice it really deserves.
This place should really be on everyone's bucket list!!!

My wife and I had a wedding ceremony at Anantara Dhigu in April. Our time there were some of the best memories I have.

The resort is beautiful, and the rooms (we stayed in the Over water villa) are spacious and comfortable. The staff are some of the most friendly people we've met on our travels.

After we got back we were always asked about the cost... Every time I would say it is very expensive, but for a once-in-a-lifetime holiday, well worth it.

Another thing I have to mention is that there are no mosquitoes anywhere on the resort, I don't know how they did it, but bravo!

Room Tip: The sunset over water villas are wonderfully spacious and private.

We stayed at anantara dhigu in over water villa (sunrise and sunset villa) for 7 days this August and we loved it, it was amazing. The villas and the service is excellent.
When arriving at the airport they have a nice welcome lounge while waiting for the speed-boat transfer.
The villa is huge, nice furniture, amazing bed, fantastic bathroom, and so clean. Rooms get cleaned twice a day, mineral bottles are free, wifi is free of charge but not very fast and a bit spoty in the room, connection breaks up quite often.

The beach was beyond words. White sandy beach and crystal clear water. We saw baby shark, stingray, eagleray, turtle, and other kind of fish swimming under our villa everyday.

The food was good, pricey of course. We absolutely loved Thai restaurant Baan Huraa, the food was very very very good and the setting is very nice. We did eat 3 times there during our stay. One staff that we remember is Fon. She was so nice and helpful. We also loved fudan, the seafood platter was so fresh and tasty.
All the staff there was so helpful and the service is excellent.
Love..love..love...anantara dhigu!

Room Tip: go for the sunset overwater villa for better view

Dear vonvon2013,

Thank you very much for your kind words. We are very happy, that our team played a key role on the success of your well-deserved holiday.

The underwater world on the Maldives is amazing, we fully agree with you! It is so great what you can discover in the water, even if you watch the scenario from the beach, or like you from you Over Water villa.

Our Thai restaurant ‘Baan Huraa’ receives a lot of great comments, besides the nice atmosphere during the dinner, don’t miss out to experience our Spice Spoon cooking class next time.

It will be a pleasure to share your feedback with the team. We are looking forward to welcome you again in the near future!

We've just returned from a truly wonderful long weekend. The Maldives is only 4 hours from Dubai so perfect for a long weekend. From the moment you are met and escorted to the boat the service is impeccable. Should you have any need to call guest service, additional towels for example, then nothing is too much trouble. The staff are there in the background ready to help when needed but even with all the other guests you get the tranquil feeling of having the place to yourself.
The kid's club was loved by our kids allowing us to escape for snorkelling or to enjoy a spa treatment.
I have never seen my young daughter so excited as she spotted all the dolphins, such a large pod.
The food was great and the normal beers were not so expensive although I did restrain myself from the 5000usd bottle of wine.
We will be back...

Our resort is an ideal destination for families, travelling with their kids, as well as for couples or single travellers, looking for privacy.

There is enough space on one of our 3 connected islands ( Anantara Dhigu, Anantara Veli and Naladhu Maldives ) and many places to discover.
