We went to dhigu in a group of 6 adults and 2 kids ( 11yrs & 4 yrs). We reached the airport and were immediately received by the staff of Dhigu at the exit. The speed boat was waiting for us and another couple of guests at a walking distance of 5 mins from the airport which is completely adjacent to the sea. A forty minute boat ride to the hotel and there we were to the heavenly property of Anantara Dhigu. Beautiful and love at first site. We were personally welcomed by the manager Mr. Mathew who was a great host until our stay at dhigu. A welcome drink followed with a couple of formalities to be done with ( paper work and deposit). We had opted for the sunrise water villa and sunset water villa both. The rooms were fabulous. Huge rooms with a small coffee table and two chairs at the entrance, a huge bed room open to an awesome deck with sun beds and coffee table with chairs opening straight down to the ocean ( 2 ft deep). The bathroom was huge with a big tub for two opening to the the ocean just right in front of you, a shower area opening to the deck and a WC with glass below to see the fish in the ocean. The room has a super aircon, mini bar, wine cellar, coffee machine ( lavazza), hot kettle with a good variety of tea to choose from. They also provide with rain coats, umbrellas, life jackets, slippers, beach bag all in the room complimentary for use in the hotel. The toiletries in the bathroom are superb to use. The rooms are cleaned in the morning and night again. The only difference in the sunrise and sunset water villas is the view. The sunrise villa has a view of the sunrise and 2-3 island around the hotel which are all owned by the resort itself. The sunset villa has the view of the sunset and only sea. Personally I prefer the sunrise villa as you can see a couple of activities around like the speedboat passing by, kayaks but all occasionally. The dhigu is a super clean and neat island compared to veli which is a little tired and dirty. They have the buggy service which takes u around from the room to the restaurant, pool etc. I can go on and on..... But would just like to keep the suspense for you. A very good hotels for families too. No musquitos, insects, reptiles at all. The marine life around is highly Ok. The aqua fanatics sports facilities are great and have to mention a special thanks to manuel my scuba dive instructor who really encouraged me to dive and stayed only with me for the complete dive which was actually a once in life time experiance not to be missed, when actually I wanted to get back to land during my training. and also a special thanks our snorkelling instructor who encouraged me and my family to snorkel in the middle of the sea, which was a great experience too. Please do not miss the Fun fair on Sunday's which includes different cuisines from around the resort and have special booths where u can cook food for your partner under the chefs supervision and also buy a wine tasting session which includes unlimited wine there after with a beautiful candel lit set up with live music along the beach. The food all over the resort ( Vegetarian for us) including Thai, Japanese, Mexican ( burritos) was fantastic. The best part about Anantara is you can take a 2 min ferry ride ( available from 7am to 11.30pm) to the other island VELI and enjoy the hotel and restaurants there too. All in all a fantabulous hotel not be missed !!!
The only disappointment was the marine life in near the hotel which was nothing great at all.
