My only past experience at Kelly's Bleachers in Wind Lake was 20 something, dancing, drinking... you get the picture. So 10 years later we decided to act like adults and try the food. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect. We walked in, pretty late - after 9pm but they serve until midnight so they were more than happy to seat us. The bar looks like same as it did so long ago but with a really deep cleaning. Restaurant has a cafeteria feel to it but was clean and updated. Restaurant was empty except for us. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I had no idea what to get but the BBQ Pork sounded interesting and safe so I went for it. Husband ordered cod fish fry. Husband ALWAYS wants an appetizer so we ordered mozzarella sticks. Mozz sticks came out first, I'm pretty sure they were hand rolled. They were good! I mean it's deep fried cheese, not like it could be bad. But the cheese was really soft, gooey and warm, wrapped in crispy won-ton wrappers. Husband said fish fry was decent. Kind of average but on the good side of average. My BBQ was REALLY good. The meat was tender and moist but wasn't drowning in sauce. The sauce they did use was just on the top and it was tangy but sweet. We also got a side of baked beans which were nice and thick, sweet but savory. Our only call out was the cole slaw, which we both had. It needs.. something. I like that they are using a light vinegar base rather than the heavy mayo base but it's lacking... something.
All in all, I'd go back. Service was great in addition to the taste and quality of my BBQ sandwich and beans. I think my husband will try something else besides the fish next time - not bad just average.
