I first visited this plantation about two years ago, but this time we brought our 13 year old grandson. The jury is out as to how much he got out of the visit. We chose this house because it is one of the closest plantations to New Orleans. We took the guided tour of the house led by our guide Jim. He was very knowledgeable about the plantation and was a pleasure to listen to. Touring the outside grounds is free, but there is an admission for the house tour. The work put in the restore the house and grounds which were once the site of a refinery is visually astounding. Also, they didn't overlook the reality of slavery and the slave revolt that ended in the hangings of those who wanted to be free. It was a very nice visit. If we come back to the area, we will visit another plantation only because we have been here twice already.
