Had the pleasure of spending Thanksgiving here with my family and it was very enjoyable....not cheap..... but great !!
I chose this place following Trip Advisor recommendations. It is a pleasant drive from New Orleans (about an hour). They were very busy on this day....had a parking attendant directing traffic....after parking we were directed toward the Plantation Home where the Brunch was served. Walked through expansive and beautiful gardens full of flowers, fresh vegetables, ponds, garden art, fountains and hundreds year old trees. The salon where brunch was served was huge and had the southern plantation feel.....they had many meats (turkey, pork, duck, beef, fish) many Louisiana favorites, salads, soups, vegetables, sauces, wines, champagne, coffees, desserts) excellent friendly service and very interesting people watching :)
After we ate we walked the gardens again and then visited the shop !!! wow !!! great shopping from art from local artists to foods to mardi gras masks to liquors, jewelry, local books and so much more....I will certainly go back to shop, eat, and take the tour of the mansion which we didn't do this time. I agree with other reviewers....it is pricey......but how often do you experience a southern plantation !!!! reminds me of paying $14 for a coke in St Marks square in Venice....how much is the feast for your eyes worth ??? invaluable......

I will admit when I made reservations I hesitated, questioning is it worth the extra drive? the high prices? I can testify the answers are YES and YES.

Albeit the traffic around Baton Rouge, it is an easy drive from LSU and oh so worth it! I highly recommend (1) making your reservations now; (2) arriving at least an hour before your dinner to walk the beautifully landscaped grounds and enjoy a drink in the Turtle Bar; and (3) pre-ordering the tasting menu or going with 6 to 8 good friends willing to share a bite so you can sample the entire menu.

Latil’s Landing Restaurant is located in the original 230-year old house located to the rear of Houmas House. We enjoyed our dinner in one of the original bedrooms, filled with a collection of art and artifacts, and our food was served on French Limoge china. The room was not big and it felt very welcoming. Perfect setting for any special or romantic occasion. We were dressed in our Sunday-best and felt right in place on a Thursday night. High heels discouraged due to gravel and old wooden floors of the restaurant ;)

Our server was EXCEPTIONAL. She had just the right mix of confidence and delight of serving us. After dinner she went out of her way to show us both wine cellars.

Realizing the menu that evening only featured four appetizers, two soups, two salads and seven entrees, the six of us agreed to order one of everything on the menu and share. Best decision ever. Top favorites: Abita Shrimp appetizer, Bisque of Curried Pumpkin soup, Seafood Crepes and Filet Mignon.

We can’t wait to go back!

What a lovely restaurant! Things to love...seven-course tasting menu (and an additional course when I expressed interest in an item not on the tasting menu), a personal visit from Chef Bryan Duck, and the best server (Debbie) in recent memory. Can't think of anything bad to say...except I can't dine there every night!

Latil's Landing Restaurant which is part of Houmas House Plantation House in Darrow, Louisiana will be one of your favorite restaurants and a must visit after your fiirst trip! Look for a meal for two with drinks to be $150+ and you will be very pleased that you went. Chef Jeremy Langois provides exceptional food and the service is marvelous. The building is a couple of hundred years old, quite rustic and an important part of the experience...but Latil's would be a home run regardless of the ambience of the facility. Include a tour of Houmas House and grounds and you can easily turn dinner into a wonderful 5 or 6 hour viisit.

My wife and our friends toured the Houmas House Plantation and decided to grab some lunch afterwards. We had no idea that we were about to enjoy THE BEST meal we'd had in a very long time. The food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was outstanding. We even photographed each of the plates before enjoying our meal. In addition, the service was extraordinary. Bottom line: Run, don't walk to this outstanding restaurant!
