This is a wonderful example of LA plantation homes. Very well preserved, interior is stunning! Don't miss this home. And ask for Judy as your guide. She's the best!

We toured the Houmas House Plantation and had an terrific guide. She brought the history to life with knowledge, humor and ability to think on her feet. The estate is in excellent condition, you may take pictures of the interior as well as the beautiful gardens. We enjoyed a superior lunch in the dining room and there is a very unique gift shop.
The gardens are a joy to walk through and two hours will pass very quickly. For the photographer
be prepared to take many pictures. The estate changes in perspective from different viewing points. This was an exceptional tour at a very fair price.
Just 40 minutes from New Orleans.

We enjoyed the tour of the house...but the restaurant was totally taste-free and served by someone who should find another career. The only thing that could be said about the food is that it wasn't salty. But it wasn't flavorful either. All four of us agreed. Enjoy the magnificent trees, wonder about the over done and tacky lawn art, and imagine what it was like to live in the house. But run to the Gumbo Shop or Commander's Palace in New Orleans for lunch.

Very impressed with the gardens and the plantation. Tour guide Susan was dressed in period clothing and talked the part of a southern belle. Lots of interesting information! Got to sit in the furniture and touch some of the artifacts. The gardens are breath taking.

I was there yesterday. They serve lunch and all that. This is the home where Bette Davis and Joseph Cotton filmed " Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" around 1964. Lots of parking and a fantastic gift shop. I was shocked that there were no posters of the movie made there.......Feb. 23, 2013
