“This is the best place you'll ever stay in the WORLD!!”
Reviewed July 21, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

WOW.. That's a perfect word to start the our review of Sanglung Villas.

We stayed at Villa 1 for our first 3 nights stay in Bali. Whilst the villas are on the North part of the island and it does take 2-3 hours to travel there from the airport, the travel time was worth it for the utter luxury, peace and tranquillity that awaited us.

From the main road you drive down a somewhat rocky road but are then welcomed by a beautiful, secure and private compound which houses 3 outstanding villas.

We arrived at 7pm and we're welcomed by our beautiful and hospitable host, Lou and her amazing staff who, without fuss, made us feel at home straight away.

Due to the location of the villa, nipping out for dinner or a glass of wine isn't possible. However Lou and her team offer a fantastic selection of home cooked food (which was outstanding every time) cooked in your own private kitchen and served up on our own private terrace over looking the pool, forest and sea (in the distance).

Everyday we we're provided with a menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was served at the time we requested, outside on the terrace. We highly recommend the BBQ option; however even though it says for 2 people it does serve 4 so we split the food and asked Lou to take it home.

We were provided with our own mobile phone so we could contact Ari or Lou at any time to request anything from drinks and food, to DVDs for evening entertainment and car hire so we could explore the local area and beyond.

The villa was outstanding and by far the best place we've ever stayed anywhere in the world. We've been fortunate enough to visit some incredible places, however Sanglung Villas is our favourite by far.

Yes the villas are remote, yes the distance for the airport isn't ideal but that doesn't matter, you have to stay here and once you arrive you'll understand why.

Lou, Ari, Kim and everyone else, thank you for one of the most incredible, 5* experiences of our lives. We will always remember our beautiful and relaxing stay with you.

Much love, Matt & Baz

“A great place to relax!!”
Reviewed May 20, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

This is not a place where you go to party, but to RELAX. And boy, did we do that here! Starting with the amazing infinity pool with an breathtaking ocean/sunset view (very Instagram-worthy, haha). The villa's are also picture perfect: they look like traditional Balinese houses and are very well decorated with lot of modern touches. For example, they even had a sound system with which you can play your own music very easily.
With two bedrooms the villa can cater very well for four people (we were just with the two of us). But also six if you don't mind sharing a bedroom (with air conditioning!) or sleeping in the open air.
There was a lot of peace and quiet and we barely felt the need to leave the house, also because the lovely staff makes you
breakfast (included in the rate), but they also serve lunch and dinner and the 'minibar'/fridge in the kitchen is very well stocked.
There are three villa's in total, but felt like we were the only people there, sound-wise. You have a lot of privacy.
Since the house is located in the far north with a quite bumpy road leading to it, we were glad we used the car service they provide. It takes you about three hours to get there from the airport. We also booked the drivers for some day trips. Very convenient!
And you call them with the mobile phone that is provided in the villa. That's a really nice touch, a local phone you are able to use. You can also use it to reach the owners, who are extremely helpful in pointing out nice things to see and do in the area.
We were very lucky to find this place and hope to return in the future

“PEACE, TRANQUIL & NATURESQUE.”
Reviewed April 22, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Booked directly with Kim via Tripadvisor, and both Kim & Ari had been very responsive to my queries via email.

Place was extremely well accommodated and spacious for our group of 2 couples, just nice occupying 1 bedroom each. Both bedrooms are attached with a bathroom, very good for privacy - one with bathtub & shower, the other, without the tub. It was approximately a 3 hour drive from the Ngurah Rai Airport and an additional 20 mins spent at a supermarket shopping for our own grocery supplies, being aware of the villa's secluded location.

It is indeed best to hire the villa's own driver/transportation as the pathway entrance onwards the villa is extremely bumpy (abt 15mins, I think), passing thru a small village community and the jungle trees; coming across chickens, cows, dogs and wild boars! It was a cool experience, and it helped traveling with a bunch of fun & positive-minded people. For those not familiar with the area may get lost!

Alas upon arrival, we were welcomed with an AMAZING view, the bumpy roads were forgotten! Ari & his team were all very friendly and all smiles. Ari advised us on the formalities for our stay, providing us with a mobile phone with his & Lou's (villa staff) contact number - very thoughtful. Food was tasteful too, the villa staff (all ladies) would come and cook, prepare, and lay the table for our meals. KUE LUMPUR (dessert) is very much recommended - we had it twice during our 2 nights' stay.

Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Do note, it is in a jungle, surrounded by nature (trees/flowers/bugs/chickens/dogs/birds/bats) - you'd have 'company' wherever u are in the villa. :) However, the peace & quiet, the picturesque view & huge pool, where u can juz lay on a lounge float all day long makes it all worthwhile! That is IF you are okay with such environment. Plus, there's WIFI! :)

Special thanks to Kim (owner), Ari (Team Manager), Gede (our driver for the 3 days - thank you for entertaining our craziness driving us here & there. Drive safe!), to Lou and the ladies who prepared our meals, and the rest of the team who made us feel very welcomed/safe/secured, respected our privacy, and upkeeping the villa.

Thank you!

“Disconnection”
Reviewed April 5, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Me and my partner decided to stay at this villa because of the crazy view from the pictures. The villa is located very far from any amenities and in the middle of the jungle. It is definitely a total disconnection from places such as ubud or seminyak. It is not a touristic location so for people who wants to be completely isolated and disconected from the touristic areas, then it is the ideal place the stay. On top of this the view is definitely worthwhile!
I would like to point out that the villa is in the middle of the jungle, so do not be surprised to meet any types of insects. Even if the owner would spend all the money of the world the make the place as comfortable as possible, bare in mind that because of the location, things like insects are unavoidable!
Another thing that I would like to point out is that this place is very far from anything, there is basically no shops, stores or restaurants nearby so everything needs to be done in the villa but do not worry as the employees are very accomodating.
I would like to say a special thanks to Ari who was wonderful, friendly and very helpful.
I would definitely recommend this place for people who loves nature, and who are not afraid of the jungle environment. The icing on the cake is that it supports the local community!

“Sanglung Villa The jungle Booking”
Reviewed March 19, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Perfection from start to finish. Its a 3-4 hour drive from the international airport but the ride is mesmerizing. We used the pickup service provided by the estate and Ari came to pick us up. A Great Host and He was kind enough to stop off at a grocery store incase we wanted to buy anything and use the (Fully Equipped Kitchen). I can not stress enough on the seclusion of this estate. Literally the last 3 km before reaching we did feel like we were in the middle of the jungle. The Villa is huge and convertible :) you can choose to leave the doors and windows open or close them. I would suggest to close them during the night to keep the bugs out. The pool is one of the biggest private infinity pools i have ever booked. We had 2 lovely ladies come and cook breakfast for us on a daily basis because the stay included breakfast. We enjoyed it so much that we also requested them to cook dinner for us for the 5 days of our stay. If you end up there try their Nasi Goreng (Indonesian fried rice) their kur lumpur for dessert you wont be disappointed.
For entertainment you can ask Ari to set up a trip to lavina beach or even request for a Yoga instructor to come for a session or 2.
5 days of blissful R&R thanks to the staff and the this amazing estate and the best part for the daily dose of rain for an hour in the afternoon

“Amazing Villa, Staff and Location just beware Driver!”

Absolutely loved our four day stay in Villa 3 here - amazing views out over North Ubud, stunning build and decor and the most amazing staff onsite .... The breakfast was to die for, and be sure to enjoy their cooking for dinner as was simply stunning... There really is no reason to leave!! Any issues with Internet and power were quickly sorted and the whole stay was super enjoyable... Only one miscommunication but I put that down to Nyepi. Absolutely recommend for a gorgeous stay!! Now the one downside of this stay was the driver we organized through villa... First day he turned up 1 hour late and was absolutely out of it - either hung over or exhausted as he drove more crazy then any other driver we had in Java and Bali .... But he was falling asleep at the wheel!! I kid you not he was nodding off and walking himself up by loud music, and aircon on/ off and window up/ down!! Disgraceful!!! He said almost nothing to us for 3 days even though he spoke English and was not even give us basic information like the walk is that way etc. I asked him to drop me at a dive shop (have name) and he dumped us at another company of less repute and drove off with other passengers so fast we didn't realize what he had done until too late. The driver we had on the first day from Lovina to our villa on short notice organized by Ari was amazing, friendly and good natured ... Highly recommend the villa thinks to make him the regular rather than the main one who is dangerous and late. Other than that though perfect stay!! Will be back soon!!

“Very Nice .... if you like to be far away of everything”
Reviewed January 27, 2016 for a stay in December 2015

The house and the location are marvelous. The staff is very nice, the view is awesome.
Definitely a very great place to stay.
2 important things to know :
- the house is very far away of everything, no car, no scooter, no possibilities to visit (we had a car)
- as the house is far away, it sounds very, very difficult to go out for a dinner. Coming back at night by your own sounds dangerous and it is easy to lost yourself. So you stay at home and rely on the menu the staff propose. Honestly it's good but after 3 or 4 days, the choice looks limited.
At the end, it's very calm, very nice, but be sure this is what you are looking for ....
