“Clean, Convenient and Adequate”
Reviewed July 6, 2011

My cousin and I stayed here for a girls getaway for a couple nights. Check-in was easy, except the girl at the front desk was a little snotty. We were given a handicap room complete with doorbell. Not sure why. The room was very clean and modern, however, the lighting over the sink was horrible. We were not in our hotel room very much since we were out enjoying the casinos in the area. Speaking of which, Harrah's is right across from the hotel if you turn left from the entrance.
The only negatives were the first night, there were children running up and down the hall SCREAMING at 3 a.m.!!! Also, the fire alarm went off around 9 a.m. one morning, which was pretty disruptive. The free breakfast buffet was running low (as well as the coffee) as it was winding down, so if you want free food, make sure you get there early. All in all, the place was pretty decent plus it was a comped trip for us so can't complain too much!

I made the reservation 8 months ago because we were attending a wedding nearby and the reception was at the racetrack sky room. We got there at 3:00 and rooms were not ready. We had a rehearsal supper that we needed to leave hotel by 4:30 to get too. Needless to say, we barely got in the room in time to get ready. However, they upgraded all three of our rooms to the deluxe suites. The deluxe suites are very spacious and everything was clean. If you are looking for someplace quiet this is not the place to be. We could hear people in room beside us, above us and below us. People were coming in at all times of the night. But I guess that was to be expected since it was next door to the casino/racetrack.

Spent a night at the SpringHill Suite Shreveport right next to Louisiana. Went there with my brother. The motel is fairly new right new to the Louisiana Downs. The check in process was painless. The gal working that night was cool. She kinda flirted with me. We did some slot play over there once we checked into our room. We also head over to the Horseshoe for a couple hours. Once we got back to Springhill we got into our rooms. Rooms are large with a small living room area and two queen size bed. Each bed had about 10 pillows. The only complaint I have was that the people above us were kind of loud. Other than that it was a nice visit. Free breakfast was good too.

We stayed here for two nights on a gambling trip. From arrival to checkout, we were very pleased with this hotel. Every employee we encounter was friendly and helpful. The rooms were excellent and yes, there can be occasional noise because it is next to Harrahs Casino and people are having a good time but it never disturbed us. Breakfast is great. We will be back.

Typical Springhill Suites; exactly like the one in Moore, OK (the only other springhill suites I've ever stayed at). Room is std size with desk, 'L' shaped couch, coffee table. Mini-kitchen includes sink, microwave, small fridge, coffee maker, and paper plates & plasticware. Located next to Harrah's casino and Louisiana Downs horserace track, although neither appeals to me. 15 minute drive to Barksdale AFB, right next to I-220 (so, very close to the highway). Breakfast is okay; instant scrambled eggs, muffins, bagels, etc. Staff was very friendly and very nice. Exercise room was good, pool is indoors and nice. Quiet area, slept soundly.

I'll start by saying that the place has an overall neat and new appearance, and the staff was friendly. I genuinely hate to leave a poor review, but you need to know and decide for yourself if the problems I encountered would bother you. The problems were primarily the paper thin walls and careless housekeeping. Frequent water running and toilet flushing next door sounded as if it was in our own room. I could clearly hear and understand the cleaning ladies in the the adjacent room prattling on and on, discussing exactly how many mg of vitamin C is best (1,000 vs 500) at 7:00 in the morning. I assume that one of those two ladies is the one who had left the long, wavy black hair on my towels. There was also a piece of black plastic the size of my thumb on the pale blue sofa when we got to the room. How does the cleaning staff miss something so obvious? The king bed in our room faced directly toward the 6' wide opening to the vanity area of the bathroom, and there is no door there. So if you need to brush your teeth or wash your hands while your spouse is sleeping, there is no way to keep from disturbing them. The back-lit round mirror with diffuse lighting in the bathroom is cool but too dim for applying makeup. The rooms seem to have been constructed and decorated for visual appearance without consideration that people need to SLEEP there. I would ask about the room layout before booking a room in case there are rooms that don't have the wide open bathroom vanity. You could bring earplugs or a sound-soother machine to mask the noise through the thin walls.

The room was very comfortable and spacious. It was nice to be close to the casino but not attached to it. I think it saved me lots of money haha. The breakfast they had in the morning was goo and very filling. The only thing I didn't like was the space they had available to everyone to sit was small and couldn't handle all the people that wanted to eat. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It was also kind of fun to have our window face the racetrack.
