L'Auberge Casino & Hotel
Ranked #17 of 77 Hotels in Baton Rouge
Reviewed September 8, 2012

The hotel is nice. It is confusing in the way it is designed. If you self-park it's like a corn maze to get to the hotel lobby and casino. There is a nice fireplace and light fixture in the hotel lobby. The public restrooms are clean and smell good. The hotel rooms are new. There are TV's in the bathroom mirrors. The service is good. What's the problem? The pool was closed and won't open until next week. The FOOD is HORRIBLE!!!!! Extremely overpriced and the quality was very poor. I don't know how they can even call the Friday Night Buffet a Seafood Buffet. There were few seafood items. The food was the worst I have had in Baton Rouge anywhere. Where is the lazy river? In comparison to the Lake Charles Property, there is none. After you get past the fact that it's new, there is no WOW factor. The food in Lake Charles is good. I do not gamble but the casino was pretty. Reaked of smoke, but they all smell bad. There was no where to really dance or shop (small gift shop only). There was a small band playing by a bar in the "Event" area. This is a small and congested area. There are a few tables on the patio that overlook the Mississippi River. This was a nice area. It is not Vegas by a long shot. It's nice cause it is new. If you don't believe what I am saying go to their facebook page and see for yourself. When the L'Auberge in Lake Charles opened I lived there. I would stay at the casino hotel at times and enjoyed there food. The casino was so nice. I am not saying that it's not a nice atmosphere but by no means is it a resort. That may happen in time. Why is the River Road closed??? Why are the streets going to and from the casino one lane????? Why is it like a maze to get inside the casino from self parking? What happened here?. I am going to post the information aboui the Seafood Buffet that I put on my facebook page below.

"Believe me when I say everything is very pricey and the quality is low. For example, they serve catfish nuggets. Do people really pay $30+ to eat fried chicken and catfish nuggets?1? The only decent thing on the buffet was Oysters on the halfshell (fishy) and very salty overcooked crab legs. There was dried out beef brisket, slimy frog legs, tons and tons of prebreaded fish. For desert, all of the desserts were basically pudding in cups. Horrible quality!!! Please share with others. My server said so many people are complaining.

I am posting this because so many people have asked me about the new casino as it is in close proximity to me. The property in Lake Charles has a buffet that has a great reputation. Of course a person who’s name starts with “M” and ends in “ama” told me all about it. So many people asked me about it that I am going to say it one more time - Don’t waste your money!!!!!! Let me tell you what in on the seafood buffet:

Hot seafood
Crab legs (Salty and mushy) plastic non-functioning picks MESSY
Fish (Strips and nuggets) (salty and cold but okay)
No other fried seafood!!!!
No oysters
No Shrimp

Boiled cold shrimp (40-50 count) no seasoning

Other Items

Asian food was good but small selection
No hibachi
Pasta station (no make your own and no seafood)
red beans and rice - did not try
chicken and sausage gumbo - did not try
soul food items
other carving stations - not manned and looked nasty

Desserts - just open a box of pudding and add milk throw nuts or sprinkles on top, wrap in decorative paper

No pie slices
No cake slices
No cheesecake slices
No peach cobbler
No pecan pie
