We stayed at this hotel for one night thinking that there would be a lot to do and see in the downtown area.....not so. It would be a great place to stay for business travellers, or if you are into old buildings and architecture. There are a couple of casinos within a short drive or taxi ride. I guess because the hotel is in the business district, the area more or less closes up at 5:30 pm. Having said that, there a few bars and restaurants within walking distance, right around the block.
The hotel is very nice. It has a very modern feel even though it is in an old building. They did a great job with the reno and decor. There is a bar/grille on the main level and an area that offers takeout. The room we had was quite small but very clean and the bed was really comfy. The bathroom was a good size with all the amenities.
They offer valet parking for $16, which I would suggest (there is cheaper parking offsite), as I wouldn't want to be wandering around at night. The staff was friendly.

The hotel was not easy to find. Valet parking, parking on the street, or in a lot a block or so away. Park VALET. I would not want to park my car on the street in that area, nor do I want to be in a parking lot and have to walk to the hotel. Check in was easy and very pleasant. All workers were very friendly and helpful. We were there for a wedding that was held at the Old State Capital, so were many others. In fact there were three wedding parties staying there. Yes they need to have fun; and I understand noise; but this was all night long. The room next to ours had a baby, adults partying, & banging of dishes. The worse part was that when we were in the bathroom, we could hear the conversation through the vent. Room was small, but comfortable, and VERY CLEAN. Some noise actually came from an area with a water fountain with loud music --The Shaw BLDG. A PJ's Coffee Shop is across the street. We did not go to the bar or restaurant. Other people visiting for the wedding moved out because of noise. They went to the Hilton. As we were leaving I gave my card with comments to the front desk and the manager came out. He was very apologetic and said he had extra security on that night because of the wedding parties. Evidently the security workers did not come to our floor. Frances said he would look into the fact that you could hear other talking while in the bathroom. This hotel is an old building, and they have done a good job of making it look nice and very presentable. There was no BATH TUB, which I was not happy about, but I did not attempt finding out if there were rooms with bath tubs. I am not sure that I would stay there again. SUE A.

Room Tip: Do not get room 410 or facing the street, where you would see PJ'S Coffee.

I managed to secure two rooms here after a co-worker and I refused to stay at another hotel that our company had booked us into (see my review on the BR Radisson). Thank goodness we found the Hotel Indigo! It is very clean and the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The beds are comfy. The rooms are well-designed and spotless. It is quiet. I would definitely stay here again! Pick this hotel -- you won't regret your decision. Great boutique hotel!

Love the look of this hotel especially the entrance inside. Fitness center was perfect for any workout with a large window on main wall to look out while working out. It was nice and clean. The computer area had large printer setup which I was able to use for work purposes. I had a room up on 7th floor which offered a great view of the river. Room is small but cozy. Great color scheme and the beds were extremely comfortable! They had bikes you could check out for free. We grabbed a couple and got on the trail that runs along the Mississippi River, it's only a block from the hotel. Most helpful front desk attendant was on my departure day. Valet guys were great! Note: all rooms had showers apart from the 2 suites which I was told had a bath and separate shower. I am a bath gal but didn't mind the trade off for that extremely comfortable bed.

We stayed only one night at Hotel Indigo, but wish we could have stayed longer. I booked online, so the valet service was our first impression of Hotel Indigo. If it's true that first impressions are lasting impressions, then this hotel should get 5 stars! The young men running the valet service were very professional, prompt, efficient and kind! Check-in was a breeze and the entire staff was completely hospitable. The rooms seemed very small, but they were very nice and incredibly clean. The bed was AMAZING! It made it hard for us to get up and get moving the next morning. We spent some time in the bar and the tender and staff there were also very professional and excellent in their positions. Hotel Indigo is reason enough for us to visit Baton Rouge again!

The staff at the Indigo are hard to beat. We felt welcomed as soon as we walked in. Right across the street from the river and within walking distance of most downtown attractions it is in a great location. The rooms are clean and bartenders were awesome. This was our second stay and we will stay there again when in BR.

Room Tip: ask for a river view.
