We stayed at this hotel for one night thinking that there would be a lot to do and see in the downtown area.....not so. It would be a great place to stay for business travellers, or if you are into old buildings and architecture. There are a couple of casinos within a short drive or taxi ride. I guess because the hotel is in the business district, the area more or less closes up at 5:30 pm. Having said that, there a few bars and restaurants within walking distance, right around the block.
The hotel is very nice. It has a very modern feel even though it is in an old building. They did a great job with the reno and decor. There is a bar/grille on the main level and an area that offers takeout. The room we had was quite small but very clean and the bed was really comfy. The bathroom was a good size with all the amenities.
They offer valet parking for $16, which I would suggest (there is cheaper parking offsite), as I wouldn't want to be wandering around at night. The staff was friendly.
