Two of my friends had the surf and turf. That night it was a filet and a soft shell crab. They said it was good, but didn't rant and rave over it. I had a filet and the Parmesan mushroom risotto. Get the risotto, it is delicious! Overall, it was good but to pricey for just good food.

“Great location, very good food, but a tad pricey.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2012 via mobile

I really like Stoubes because we can go have a nice dinner, then continue the night at one of the many downtown bars. I've always liked the food there, but I'm sure it's because the wife and I keep it simple with steak and potatoes. I can't speak to their seafood. The steak is always very good and the side dishes are great. The street views and ambiance are great. I do wish the wine list was larger though.

As far as prices go, I think Stroubes is a little on the high side. They are priced like Ruth Chris and Flemmings, but it's not quite at that level. It's very good, but as you can read in other reviews, they have some misses here and there. A little more refinement and consistency will put this place in the top tier. That being said, Stroubes gives a great downtown option.

“Great Steaks”

Lots of options, great steaks and unique southern takes on menu items, very classy. Out of ON-menu entrees last two times I visited(?)

“Always and exciteing place to eat.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2012

Want something different, this is the place. Starting with the snails placed in a bread pocket and covered with a most excellent sauce. (Escargot) Fried green tomatoes are to die for. The turtle soup with a shot of sherry was to die for. The duck duo was very good. Nice sauce of steens syrup and cinnimon, on a bed of sweet potatos.
A little on the expensive side but well worth it. Chef Varnado is a welcome addition to this fine downtown place to eat.

“OK but not great”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2012

Located conveniently for downtown. Nice decor. Food was good but not great -- fried green tomatoes a disappointment to my wife who loves them. Nice server. Online reservation system very conveniant.
